Frakes up for more TNG

Well, since they didn't do that in the previous TNG movies (apart from the destruction of the Enterprise D; I'm not counting Kirk's death, since he should not be seen as a main cast member for the TNG movies), I guess it's more that they took advantage of Nemesis very likely being the last TNG movie.
At the time Nemesis was being filmed, I don't believe they thought it was going to be the last TNG movie. Also, remember that the director and screenwriter had nothing to do with the previous TNG films.

i thought i remembered Nemesis being hyped as the last movie with the TNG crew as the release approached (or maybe everyone knew it'd suck )

Yeah, the TV ad said it was the "Final voyage of the Starship Enterprise"...I guess they didn't realize how prophetic that would be -- at least for BermanTrek.

Honestly, with the exception of a little voiceover work on the discovery channel from time to time, I seriously doubt most Trek actors would have a problem finding a blank page in their day planner.

I don't see why the TNG crew can't be included in upcoming films. Since time travel is now as commonplace as taking a shower.

It can be like reverse-Generations.... Kirk and crew take the torch back from Picard by force!! :guffaw:

I wouldn't want that. I wouldn't mind TNG films and these TOS-remake films co-existing. I always wanted to see a TNG film with Q in it, I think the character would of been great in a TNG movie.

Of course Frakes is up for more TNG, why wouldn't he? How often do we get a chance to go to work at a place where we enjoy the company and get paid for it as well? I know I'd jump at a chance to do something like that.

The Q story arc was perfectly resolved in "all good things" though...

Agreed. Shame Voyager ruined the character afterwards.

Although I realise there'd be a big initial cost involved in terms of creating sets etc, I think direct-to-DVD TNG era movies would do well. Even if they were glorified 2-part episodes in terms of budget, I'd still happily get them. They could also peacefully co-exist beside the new movie Trek.

Bite your Tounge! "The Q And The Grey" was a a high watermark in Trek!:guffaw:

In a roundabout way, it sounds like you're saying that bad Trek is better than no Trek at all. I'm sorry, but dispite the rise of the DTV market, Trek hasn't sunk to that level just yet. Shows like Stargate and B5, which have a lower profile, are expected to go to this route. Trek, however, is pulling out all the stops and is attempting to become THE tentpole summer franchise for Paramount. And you still want to Trek to go the "Little Mermaid II" route simply because you miss a few aging B-Grade actors and bumpy foreheads? I've known junkies with more self-control.

Wait until Star Trek 2009 tanks. If it does, then you'll see DTV Trek because it will convince TPTB that Trek's days as a mainstream franchise have long passed.

TREK has 3 real dud movies...
Uh... That's 30%. Not exactly a good track record. And frankly, I think more than three were "duds," but that's a different subject.

how many episodes were duds in the modern era of star trek..and you want more TV after how it all ended...
Given that there are literally hundreds of episodes, the total number of duds doesn't add up to 30%.

Your argument is completely backwards.

I think TNG is done...poke a fork in it...

With TOS, there were only 3 seasons and those characters were immersed in the public psyche. This was followed by a ten year Trek drought (not counting TAS) which had people CLAMMORING for more. With TNG, we had 7 seasons followed by one good TNG film (First Contact) and three mediocre ones.

Given this history, I can't see Paramount putting any more capital into TNG...

If Abram's film is a huge hit, I think TNG is over for good.

We need a TNG movie that:

  1. Does not involve timetravel.
Agreed
  1. Does not involve any known Trek Race as the bad guys.
Not really bothered if good story
  1. Involves the Ent-E and the Titan working together.
Would be nice.
  1. Requires a MEGA space battle that involves a huge Federation fleet that would put the DS9 war episodes to shame.
Maybe during one part of the movie.

I would like to see a trek movie that shows more about how day to day people live in the future at the start, what future earth is like, how do people buy houses etc...then goes on to show a space battle between two evenly-matched ships like the reliant vs enterprise battle from TWOK. It can end with a huge space battle and a peaceful resolution.

I don't see why they can't do a mini-series for TNG and continue the movie series in TOS.

It can be done. If they can have several CSI shows on at the same time on CBS, then they can have Star Trek movies and TV shows on at the same time.

The difference is that there is an audience of significant size for CSI.

There's no reason to believe that a Trek TV project would pull sufficient ratings right now to make it worth the cost of doing. History's against it.

It is too bad we are not going to ever see TNG again. We are stuck with the 90210 Trek now. Unless the movie fails.

TNG is over. Do you really expect to see 65 Spiner as Data and 72 year old Stewart as Picard? Come on.

We are stuck with 90210 Trek unfortunately.

Quote:"We can only hope"

Yes we have to throw away 40 years and 10 movies of Trek to make way for "STXI: Transformers meets Episode 1 with a touch of 90210 added"...

yeah....Wait for me at the premiere! hahah I will go see Wolverine again.
