Just kidding, but they have decided not to air a controversial episode from next season called Partial Terms of Endearment. They've said that its because of the subject matter and Fox is worried about public outcry.

Damn for a second there I was extremely excited Fox finally canceled that disgrace of a show that just happens to share the name of a good show canceled back in 2003.

To quote from a better show "Sometimes dead is better".

^ Probably because that episode wasn't potentially offensive, generally good-natured, and featured the entire cast of TNG.

True, expect for the offensive part but that's all subjective.

Maybe...but I don't think poking fun at TNG is such a hot-button topic as abortion...

I think he might be referring to the fact that the other main plot of the TNG episode was strongly critical of religion. It didn't offend me at all (of course, I'm very non-religious) -- unless you include the lack of funny offending my sense of humour.

When I saw the TNG episode, I laughed hard, and I thought maybe Family Guy had found it's footing once more, but alas, the next episode was craptacular, and it's declined again since then.

There was another part of the episode, a part that hit a nerve. I am catholic, and I am not easily offended (I love South Park afterall) but that other part sucked.

As the article indicated, the episode will likely be included on the DVD release--this has been done before with Family Guy, the episode "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" never aired as part of the regular schedule but was included in the Volume 2 set.

Point of Note: Fox didn't air (or not air) "that TNG episode" as Fox didn't broadcast TNG. Your local Fox affiliate simply bought the rights to it and aired it locally. TNG was syndicated.

On this episode:

Jesus Christ. I don't like Family Guy, never could get into it. But I don't see why they didn't just air the episode. Put up a disclaimer at the front of it and then wash your hands of it. If some hyper-sensitive fat housewife living in Michigan wants to get her panties in a twist over this episode and campaigns to get a few dozen people to not buy products advertised during the episode then let them. Fox wouldn't of been hurt oen bit.

EDIT: Do'h! You guys were talking about the TNG Family Guy episode.

I thought you were talking about some controversial TNG episode that "Fox didn't air" back in the day.

Ummm. What was so controversial about the TNG episode?

Damn.

Got my hopes up and everything.

I used to love Family Guy, and there's still a handful of moments I like to quote from time-to-time, but it's still a good example of a show that's definitely outlived its welcome and isn't aging nearly as well as, say, The Simpsons.

It amazes me that people can criticize The Simpsons when it's STILL funnier coming off season twenty than most animated comedies I can think of.

are you making a joke, or seriously asking, as the BBC refused to air an episode when they first aired TNG, the name escapes me right now, ill look it up if no one posts it

I know "The High Ground" was a controversial TNG episode, but I thought we were talking about Family Guy's TNG episode? Which I've never seen but cannot see why it would be controversial.
