Another C&D coming their way in 10... 9... 8...
When they get their C&D then Orville will be yet more proof it's become the de facto Star Trek show.
This is what they have to say about that (from one of the reddit-pages):

Was this before or After Disney took over. Isn't Disney more strict with their property than most corporations?

True. All I can say is that according to the interview in the first video they made sure they got the OK from the powers that be before starting.
I guarantee whoever had to say so did not give them an OK. More likely it was a "ask for a single dollar during this process and we will end you".

No, so far they've made FOX aware of it, and FOX has decided not to take any action...if FOX were explicitly okay with it, they COULD have granted a temporary license/waiver of some kind (and they still could). In the end though I hope these guys are successful, and they do manage to make some sort of real/legal deal with FOX.
Seth may prod them a little to now, especially consider the show is moving ahead with a third season.

It is being aired on a Disney subsidiary, but is still owned by the independent FOX that was left after the merger. IIRC.
Yeah, I don't think Fox owns any shows or movies anymore.
I ended up on the Twitter feed of one of the people who works on the show, I can't remember if he's a writer, producer, or both, and he actually Tweeted about this. So apparently at least some of the people who make the show are aware of it.
