For those who love ALL trek

Rarewolf said: I'm the opposite, thinking of the time I read that news STILL brings an evil grin to my face.

That's my happiest Enterprise memory.

I appreciate Ent for allowing me to understand bashing.
It never ceases to amaze me how some folks seem so personally offended by Enterprise.

I'd actually pay to see the look on your face, next Christmas when you're sitting comfortably in the cinema... and a references to Archer & the NX crop up.

Who knows, that might become my happiest Star Trek memory, period.

I love all of Star Trek. I love its unique sense of style. Think of Star Trek VI, at the end when Spock says "If I were human, I believe my response would be...go to hell. If I were human." And then we get long reaction shots from every single main character. I love Shatner's acting and the way he delivers classic moments like Spock's euology. I love when the characters get caught up in the moment, even as the sonic-wallpaper music drones on in the background, a la VOY's "Deathwish" at the beginning when everyone is all wide-eyed and excited and spouting technobabble about a little comet. I love Picard's morality speeches and Sisko's soul searching and The Doctor's ever broadening personality matrix. I eve love being able to talk about a "personality matrix" at a board like this and not get any weird looks. All those little moments that make me smile are what makes me a Trek fan.

I love Star Trek period. Well, almost all – still have never seen TAS. TOS was fun, bad acting and all. TNG, where I came into the game, great, more character episodes instead of focusing on three main ones. DS9, my favorite, was a different side of Trek. Darker? A little. Too many secondary characters? Perhaps but it was a great ride while it lasted. Loved the Odo/Quark relationship and Garak/Bashir one. Dukat was a great villain Kira was kick ass and Sisko was a great character. Passionate, brave, and funny. Oh and Dax was smart and hot, nice combo there despite the slug in her gut. Should have made it to the big screen. Best of the series finales.

Voyager is perhaps my least favorite of the 5 series but I still enjoied much of it, especially the two-hour episodes (minor gripes on Endgame). Could have done without the singing Doctor (which is different than the Dancing Doctor from TNG which was okay) and a few less Seven/Doctor/Janeway episodes and a bit more Chakotay.

Enterprise left us too early. The beginning was a bit slow yes but to me it showed the crew of the first Earth ship to explore where it did getting the feel for things. The TCW was a great idea, just not thought out well enough. The Xindi Crisis was a desperate story to keep the show on the air but I did like many aspects of season 3. Would have liked to have seen a season 5 to see how the worlds that would become the founders of the UFP working together as uneasy as it was. The only gripe I have with Enterprise was the final episode, that was bad.

Movie wise I have enjoyed them, First Contact is my favorite, my only wish was that Q and DS9 should have been involved somehow and that Frakes had directed Nemesis with Sela involved in the plot. It just gets me how some fans will turn on you if you happen to like Enterprise or Insurrection or even worse, want XI to fail. That’s their right but wouldn’t you want Trek to succeed? It’s bad enough people who don’t like Trek want it to go away.

The other thing I love is the fact that it shows that it’s okay to have a woman in command or two people who today would hate each other because of race or religion can get along peacefully and dare I say actually like each other. Too bad the real world isn’t as lucky.

If any mention of Enterprise is made, even a photo of the crew is seen, or a simple mention of Shran I'll be ever so pleased. Would love to see that McCoy studied at the Phlox Institute of Medicine at Starfleet Medical. :D

That's one of the absolute best aspects about DS9...to our eyes, Sisko is a black man, but it is NEVER mentioned in the show. Even in "Far Beyond The Stars", an episode about racism, this aspect of Sisko's character isn't mentioned at all in the "present" day. Absolutely wonderful, and a great example I wish the real world would aspire to more often.

I'm a fan of all five series to varying degrees. I just love the depth of the Star Trek universe and way the shows usually tackle issues galactic and small. I've never seen the animated series but I'll check it out one day.

I got it on DVD when it first came out, and it was definitely worth the money IMO. If you have the $ you should check it out.

An interesting thread. When I first came to this board, I just assumed that EVERYONE here, like myself, would like all of the Star Trek series. Call me naive, but it came as quite a shock to me to see that there were people who just hated entire series. Sure, I like some series more than other, but I watched and enjoyed each series on it's own merits. I am not ashamed to say I really enjoyed ENT and VOY, which are all to often trashed around here. I thought VOY had a novel setup, and I liked the way that Janeway, Seven, and The Doctor really developed over time. Similarly, ENT worked for me, and I thought the core group of Archer/Trip/T'Pol had great onscreen chemistry and made the show interesting.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I for one have really enjoyed all of the series.

there's 700+ episodes and only about a dozen are truly dire. that's one hell of a batting average.

I was about to post something similar.

I am continuously mystified by what people want from Trek, it is merely a very successful TV show but from the way it is sometimes discussed and unpopular episodes are referred to you would think it was the Bible!

I was expecting a stream of vitriole describing me as just that, I'll have to do my own...

"Enterprise violated canon, and was EVIL!!!"
"Nemesis killed my father, and raped my mother!"
"Voyager lacked internal consistency and sucked ass!"
"No trek after 1979 is any good"
"Rick Berman ruined my WHOLE LIFE"
"Brannnon Braga sucks cocks in hell!"

and so on...

You also forgot:

"TOS-R stole/raped my childhood!" ;)

I'm afraid you'd have to pay me - a lot - to see it in the cinema full stop! I won't be going.

Anyway like I said, I really am grateful for it. The concept of me not watching a Star Trek series before that was unimaginable.

While TOS and TNG are a step above the rest in my opinion, I have watched all 700+ hours of Star Trek multiple times over and have loved them all.

Ever since Enterprise went off the air in 2005, I have watched less and less television because there is nothing on that can compare to any of the Trek series.

Trek at its worst is better than any of the crap thats on today.

Even though I hated ENTERPRISE with a passion, I'd still rather watch that than anything else currently on TV.

Shows:

Love everything up to DS9
Like Voyager
Tolerate Enterprise, but don't hate it. If it wasn't Trek it'd be a decent cable level time waster, on the level of say The 4400 or Monk or something...but as Trek, and as a prequel to TOS, it's a complete failure.

Movies
Love everything til the TNG movies
Like Generations and First Contact
Tolerate Insurrection
Actively Dislike Nemesis

I've been a fan since I was 10 -- and I'm 41 now, so it's been a while. I love all Trek: I read the books religously, and watch the shows whenever I can. My wife doesn't understand it, but hey, it's hard to explain to the unenlightened!

I love ALL Trek (except VOY).

no, seriously, I do love all Trek. even when I hate it, make fun of it, diss it... I still watch it. if it's Trek, I'll watch it... and love it nevertheless. It's Trek!

it's where my heart is.

it's home.

now where's that  icon?!

I love it all. Sure, every series has its clunkers- but, that's just the Wabi-Sabi of Star Trek, my friends.
