Molly was fine after the explosion, or at least looked fine. Margo was at her piano and that part of her office was blown away. I mean, I guess Molly could have had internal injuries that she later succumbed to. And I guess Margo could have sneaked out the back door just before explosion... Really, I'd just like a little exposition. Maybe they ran out of time?

Molly
Molly's fate mirrors that of some other real life rescue stories (9/11 for example) - saving people, going in back in for more, not making it themselves.
There were a lot of electricity cables sparking/hanging, let alone rubble and building instability of the now Molly Cobbs Space Center.

I knew her time was up when she walked into the "dust" and the injured, but rescued by her NASA man lingered with his look. Thanks to being visually impaired, she knew distances, steps and such and saved many others.
a worthy death for a hero in a way.

Margo
I'm more bothered by Margo being alive.
In a somewhat critical mission, she leaves the command center (even if Aleida is the boss), goes and plays piano, the bomb goes off almost immediately and she conveniently escaped prior.

It's not the "taking up the Sovjets offer" part that bothers me - that was a possible outcome especially after the offer she received prior in the episode and the "cold" talk she had with Sergej - it's that she escaped the bomb.

NASA has renamed its Space Center in Houston in honor of Molly Cobb who lost her flive while rescuing others during the bombing attack on the Johnson Space Center.

Survivors of the bombing remember seeing Cobb navigating smoke-filled hallways, freeing people from the rubble and helping them find a means of escape. After leading a group to safety down a fire escape, she returned to the building one last time. Her body was recovered from the rubble 7 days later.

Cobb is best remembered for being one of the original Mercury 13, recalled in 1971 to be one of "Nixon's Women," one of the first real calss of woman astronauts. She held the pilot's chair on Apollo 15, and was the one who first found evidence of water ice on the Moon, kick starting decades of development there.

Her sight was damaged by radiation when she helped to rescue the astronaut Wubbo Ockels. This effectively caused her retirement from the astronaut corps. She became Chief of the...

Truly great season finale with a brutal house clearing at the end when it comes to retiring characters.

Loved the bonkers Kelly/Kid rescue - that was all Martian inspired amazing and ridiculous but i loved it. I wonder if a current Space Agency ever ran remotely into these kinds of problems would they too go for the ridiculous solution and pray it works out?

Molly Cobb was the best, so awesome she got to go the way she deserves.

I loved how Dev was put into place and shot down with a simple question by Karen - it was a long overdue reality check from him. I liked his character and i hope he remains on the show and grows as a character.

Still not sure about the bombing itself - it felt a little too "soap opera" style. I was a huge fan of Greys Anatomy back in the day but as the seasons went one they had to resort to ever increasing ridiculous events for mid and season finales to amp up the drama ( active shooters, bomb, plane crashes etc) and after a while i left the show. I hope Mankind did this once but doesn't use that particular story crutch.

Very curious what is up with Margo? Either she defected or given the 8 year time jump the Soviet Union might have fallen like it did in our reality and she is just visiting in some form or capacity on business. However odds are she truly defected just to be able to continue being an engineer, which is all she ever wanted and being completely apolitical she won't care where she gets to solve engineering problems.

Harsh punishment for Danny but totally deserved - he can count himself lucky they don't resort to the death penalty because honestly Joel Kinnaman's murder face had me scared and i was watching a fictional character from my bed through a screen

Can we all agree that Ed is the ultimate lord of badasses?

Thanks for transcribing all that. I had paused to try to read the date on the newspaper and read that so was going to reply back about it. I'm guessing there was another collapse while she was still inside of the building and she died in that.

I didn't cover him in my review but I agree. I loved that scene and I like to think Karen more asked that question to help those people who weren't thinking clearly and caught up in the moment and not actively hurting Dev. Either way, it was a necessary wake-up call and I hope, too, we get to see him grow from it. And not just because I've always been a big fan of Edi Gathegi (I'm still better about how quickly his character exited X-Men: First Class).

Broadly speaking, I agree with you and I do hope they don't resort to that particular story crutch, but I don't mind the bombing as how and when it is used because it's clearly echoing the Oklahoma City Bombing.

When in doubt, Occam's Razor. The defection had already been suggested by Lenara and the whole season had been building up towards repercussions for Margo's past decisions with Sergei.

I found out today that the actress who played Karen was also the same actress who played Patty Spivit on The Flash. There's also been some rumblings from fans (Me included) that would like to see Patty Spivit again, and now that the actress is not on FAMK anymore, I wonder if we might just get a cameo. It's probably unlikely, but it would be nice. Still, I was blown away that it was the same actress.

Man I was so split about the critical exchange between Ed and Danny. Storytelling-wise, it was excellent, and I loved Ed telling Danny to piss off with the idea of jeopardizing his daughter's life to buy himself some kind of instant absolution. But there's also the pragmatic part of me that was thinking that Danny sacrificing his life would have had the silver lining of Danny being dead afterwards.

I minded Jimmy's story line in this season a lot less than others did. How horrific it ended might have felt out of the blue, but don't acts of terrorism definitionally feel out of the blue? Seemed pretty clear that they were going for that time line's version of the Oklahoma City bombing, yeah - combined with 9/11, possibly, because that's probably not happening?

I feel kinda meh about the time skip between seasons this time around. The episode left me more interested in what would happen in the ~immediate aftermath of the events of the episode, but didn't really leave me thirsty for seeing where things are at ten years later like previous seasons did. But still wanna see where they take things, of course.

Baldwin junior developed on Mars, only was delivered in 1G on Pheonix.

We don't actually have much of an idea, or any empirical data, on how a fetus would develop in reduced gravity. The notion that a child which developed under reduced gravity would have problems with full Earth gravity is just a science fiction convention, not something we actually know would be the case.

In regards to Jimmy’s storyline, all the red flags for a incident where there. The grooming of him by the group, the manipulation to get them inside the building and to steal badges and plant devices. The “girlfriend” who was wandering around getting a layout of the building and important locations. Given the bag of guns that he spotted in the final episode, the plan was probably a direct assault and hostage situation with the bomb as final act. Karen’s interference ruined that plan.
