Just make one GIANT skyscraper that takes up the whole country.

Not everybody wants to live in a sky scraper. And if one comes down, like from a terrorist strike, you would lose a shit load of people, and in order to pack the world into it and leave farm land (NOT enough land to feed the whole world, in Australia), that would mean the skyscapers would have to be tightly packed, so if one falls, it'll hit another.


The idea is just beyond silly.

All farmland would be locate "outside" of Australia as I have already mentioned.

Israel and Palestine have been killing the shit out of each other for a long time, in case you haven't noticed, and then there's the suicide bombers of Islam who dont' like Western ways, but it's all kind of hard to avoid when you stick 'em all in the same country. The legistacal feasibility of moving everybody and constructing a large building is far beyond practicality.

If we're going to have farmland off land, might as well live off land. A TON of people will have to anyway to care for and plow the land.

I was going to mentions arcologies too, since I first encountered them at the only SF convention I've ever been to. They cewrtainly need to be more seriously considered. More here:

What humans require isn't just shelter, but food space as well. While agriculture can produce more and more food from less and less land, that kind of overfarming will lead the the land becoming exhausted.

Why Australia? It's way too dry. The US has almost the same land mass,, and a better range of climate and water access, might make more sense there.
