First Spy Pics of Pine as Kirk + Orion Slave Girl?

guys I know a lot of you are fans of TrekMovie.com and I like to see discussions of it here. However, please do not take entire articles are repost them here (even with links). Summarize, grab a quote and put a link is fine.

By the way this isn't just my rule, it is also the rule of the TrekBBS

thanks and enjoy the new spy photos

Gotta get those hits for the site. Sorry, meant no harm, didn't know that!

I actually like the overall uniform (if that's what it is), but:

- Why is Kirk (if that is indeed Kirk) in red? Are they going to needlessly ignore the TOS departmental colour scheme and go with the TNG one? Or is this some other kind of suit?
- Collar rank pips or insignia? Again, another needless change to the TNG-era style, or is this some kind of formal dress for another purpose? Personally, I'd like to see the TOS rank braids re-used.

^ Good point, PTM.

Interesting pictures. Although you really cant see that much. Are we sure shes and orion slave girl? I see greenish skin, but little else.

And, is that some sort of Rank pip I see on Pine's collar?

Do my eyes decieve me or is that a teeny-tiny arrowhead insignia?

So he actually commands a battlestar?

Awesome!

p.s. i think these pics are fake because the boots don't match the one of the starfleet chick from the first batch.

Also he is not wearing a hooded trenchcoat.

Also kirk never wore red until the movies came out.

Mayb that uniform is set before he was the Captain (mayb he wore red at one point doing Engineer or Security duty) or its an overall hes wearing for some reason and the colour means nothing

Hmmm, a thought - didn't it establish in 'Obsession' that Kirk was a tactical and/or security officer in his early years? If that's true, red can fit as :)

Cleaned it up a bit

Looks like an arrowhead to me.

I hope that they're still going to keep the different assignment patches from ship to ship. However, if that's an arrowhead, then it's likely not going to be the case unless Kirk is on the Enterprise at this point.

Kirk in 23rd century civvies? Or Pine in 21st century civvies? :vulcan:

If they're going to show us Kirk during his cadet years, surely they're going to use Pine to portray him there as well?

This could thus well be their take on the cadet uniform and its associated cadet rank markings. It wouldn't exactly contradict anything, because we know squat about the TOS-era Academy fashions.

Granted, the Finnegan imitation wore that shiny silver thing in "Shore Leave", but that could have symbolized just about anything. Especially when another mature-looking man wore the same thing in "Trouble with Tribbles", a rather unlikely case of cadethood...

Waiters in space! This seriously looks like a bellhop or waiter uniform to me. And I doubt they would eliminate black from the uniform entirely. I'm going to say this is either a civilian outfit or a dress uniform.

TrekWeb's report speculates it might be some kind of leisure outfit. It might also be a cadet uniform - we never saw what those looked like in the TOS era.

My first impression is they're trying to do some sort of link between the uniforms of the Enterprise series and TOS. I doubt this is what the actual Starfleet uniform is gonna look like in the new movie - I don't think they'd want to mess too much with the icons. Then again, we've yet to see what the Enterprise will look like...

Cheers!
