First snow of the year

^She was asking for it! -if she didn't want it stolen she should have brought it with her when she went inside! (would have been my advice to a caller like that)

Oh and: :guffaw: absolutely: :guffaw:

Talked to my son who still lives near Buffalo, NY. Lake effect snow has dumped almost 4 FEET of snow where he lives (Depew, NY). He's been stranded at a friends house.

Glad I live in Ohio now. My back couldn't take try to move that much snow again..

Okay, we are finally getting some substantial snow today. I'm not convinced that my new car has snow tires. I was sliding around way more than I'm used to.

Here's what I call my proof-of-snow. :p

On my way from the supermarket today, I passed an elderly woman standing there with her camera, looking in the direction she was I said out loud: "I need a shot of that too" and took her place to take this:

The winter-clad part of town where I live, with the Linden outside the restaurant Under the Linden.

Later (but not much further) I came out of a pub and saw this view of part of the x-mas market:

Both of those just to show that snow can be very pretty in an urban environment!

It appears we got a dusting last night in Vermont. I've become used to snow before Thanksgiving, so I can't really complain.

Looks like you live in a beautiful town, trekkiedane.

Here's a pic I took today in the park where we always play Schlagball on Sundays:

And here's me in my winter gear today, ready to play:

More like an old town where one of the oldest parts has been relatively well restored. My parents live there and I live just on the outskirts of that part of town. But thanks anyway -we are rather 'proud' of the parts of town developers didn't manage to destroy through the ages

Possibly. It's one theory that baseball developed from it. But nothing's been proven. It's an old German game, the first known rulebook having been published in the late 18th century, but it's almost extinct today. We are one of about 8 teams still playing it in all of Germany. Here's the wikipedia entry that explains the rules, but it's only available in German (and Japanese, oddly enough, though I have no way of knowing whether it's really about the same thing).

^Thanks - I really should add German Wikipedia to my search-bar (well, thanks to this, I now did!)

I'll read a bit of it later -don't think I'm able to read and understand a lot today -with all the mulled vine and x-mas beer I've had
