First Season 2 Images Arrive

I hope they are spending more money on the writing this season.
I doubt, budget overall is probably less than Season one anyway. I mean we'll probably end up hearing they didn't cast adult Spock for money reasons :D

I really, really like the fact that they're introducing an alien that we've seen before, rather than just another collection of random, seemingly one-off aliens like in Season 1, the Kelvin movies, various episodes of the Berman era, and, yes, in TMP.

In fairness, though...DSC had Andorians and Tellarites in S1, as well as Vulcans and Klingons.

But, I get what you're saying.

It’s a big federation, I’d like to see more new species.

I also don’t get the complaint that the new Star Wars movie doesn’t have enough familiar species. There are thousands/millions of worlds, why should we see the same species all the time?

OMFG!!!! look awesome!!!!!!!!!!

It looks a bit Feline to me.
Just missing some whiskers.

I give the TMP aliens a thumbs up because they each had an 'official' background that was ripe for development. I still want to learn more about them. They made a conscious decision in TNG to avoid established alien races apart from Worf, who was originally only going to appear in a few episodes I believe. That was probably the opposite of what fans wanted. Enterprise came into its own with increased focus on the Vulcan / Andorian politics and some fun Orion episodes. I hope Discovery gets stuck in with that sort of thing sooner rather than later.

The TMP aliens were superficial, appearing only briefly in the background, but intriguing: the robust and humorous Saurians; the long-lived androgynous Rhandarite whose genders both appear to be young men to human eyes; the martial Arcturians who have no gender at all and reproduce through cloning; the sabre-toothed turtle Rigellians; the Betelgeusian religious hunters, a tall and fierce cross between an eagle and a leopard; the Fluorine-breathing Zaranites who have superior vision and magnetic sensitivity; and the Pheromone manipulating Deltans.

So little information has ever been revealed about them that all sorts of layers could be added. Hell, Phlox could have been Rhandarite with slight make up changes, and with dark blue skin, Saru could have been Betelgeusian without the need to invent yet more new races.

Disappointed we haven't got a publicity shot of Pike or the Enterprise uniforms but they're probably holding that back because they know what people want to see.

Trailer at SDCC?!

At least two of those have turned up in STO or the novels I think.
