Well, come Thursday I might yet find out that the show is not for me and all the enthusiasm I feel for it right now was misplaced. But even then I won’t regret having looked forward to it. I’m pretty sure I won’t love
everything about it, and I’ll be honest, it’s absolutely not what I thought I wanted as a new
Trek show. But damn, I’d rather stay positive, hoping it will be good, than already actively hating it for what it
might be. Heck, I’m a
Star Trek fan, and a brand new
Star Trek show is premiering in mere days! To me that’s just so exciting!
As for the “haters”: To quote Tawny Newsome from the Blue Carpet event the other day: “I am excited for the fans to dissect absolutely everything that they hate [about
Starfleet Academy]. They will do that because it is a
Star Trek rite of passage and we know y'all are going to do it and you're allowed to do it because that is your right as fans.” I think she’s putting a positive spin on what she
knows some portion of viewers will do. What they
always do when a new
Trek is coming out. And if
she can decide not to let herself get down by it, why would I?
