Drawing 361 / 2023 Artwork 34: Next season on Star Trek: Lower Decks, the Cerritos welcomes two new transfers to the ship, ensigns Soryu and Ayanami. Drawing 362 / 2023 Artwork 35: This is the Way. Drawing 363 / 2023 Artwork 36: Ensign Miku Nakano, a recent transfer to the USS Titan-A, prior to the hijacking incident of stardate 78183.
Drawing 364 / 2023 Artwork 37: Kyoko Otonashi from Maison Ikkoku. Drawing 365 / 2023 Artwork 38: A Cruel Boimler's Thesis, Part II. And for those (seldom few) who are reading along with EVA-Trek, the new episode will be posting this coming Friday. What's in store? An angel attack... a holodeck malfunction... a bit of conflict (sorry, Gene)... a crossover... and a reason I called the episode "Times Like These."
Had another week spent mainly on writing and prepping the latest EVA-Trek installment, which went up on Friday (https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/eva-trek-an-evangelion-star-trek-crossover.311690/#post-14461550). As such, just a couple drawings dropping today. Drawing 366 / 2023 Artwork 39: Stardate 49199.9, the USS Nerv encounters another mysterious angel along its journey. Drawing 367 / 2023 Artwork 40: Lt. Ayukawa (from Kimagure Orange Road) mans her station.
Love the new crystal angel EVAs https://screenrant.com/neon-genesis-evangelion-every-eva-unit-explained/
It’s supposed to be Arael, the angel that infiltrates Asuka’s mind in the original. I tried to emulate the glowing effect as best I could, but there’s only so much I can do with markers.
Drawing 368 / 2023 Artwork 41: "Oh, yes, she'll fly..." A super, super quick sketch of the reborn Enterprise-D from episode 9 of Star Trek: Picard. Drawing 369 / 2023 Artwork 42: The USS Titan-A, the finest in modern, yet retro, 25th century starship technology. Drawing 370 / 2023 Artwork 43: Lieutenant Junior Grade Asuka L. Soryu, Eva mobile unit pilot assigned to the USS Nerv. For once, I was smart, and didn't draw the LCARS panel for the Science IV station behind her. I didn't feel like adding another hour onto the time it took to finish this piece.
Drawing 371 / 2023 Artwork 44: The Falling Devil from Chainsaw Man. Drawing 372 / 2023 Artwork 45: Shouko Komi from Komi Can't Communicate tries on the new Starfleet uniform from seasons 2 and 3 of Star Trek: Picard.
Drawing 373 / 2023 Artwork 46: Ranma Saotome of the Anything Goes School of martial arts. Drawing 374 / 2023 Artwork 47: Lt. Hitohito Tadano (from Komi Can't Communicate) models the latest in Starfleet leather uniform design. You don't wanna know how annoying it was figuring out the right dark grays to use to emulate the look of the leather portions of the new field jacket from season 3 of Star Trek: Picard.
Drawing 375 / 2023 Artwork 48: Showing solidarity for the WGA strike, I did this drawing, as well as call a temporary hiatus on EVA-Trek until the strike is over. BTW, I just posted the newest episode, a full-on Deep Space Nine crossover, on Friday (https://archiveofourown.org/works/47134405) - the last one I completed before the strike started. I'm particularly proud of how that episode turned out, making sure I was getting the voices of Sisko, Quark, Dax, Garak, Bashir, and O'Brien right. Drawing 376 / 2023 Artwork 49: Speaking of EVA-Trek, here's some concept sketches for a possible future for Lt. J.G. Rei Ayanami in the Dominion War-era uniform, should I ever get crazy enough to write a second season. Also playing with Rei growing her hair out a little, to see what it would look like. Drawing 377 / 2023 Artwork FIFTY! Itsuki Nakano from The Quintessential Quintuplets tries out some TOS cosplay.
Drawing 378 / 2023 Artwork 51: Lt. JG Asuka L. Soryu in a tense moment, from a future EVA-Trek episode. Drawing 379 / 2023 Artwork 52: Ensign Najimi assumes their station, continuing my series of Komi Can't Communicate/Star Trek: Picard crossover drawings.
Really nice work, that console seems to have the Nintendo style up-down-left-right buttons which is a nice detail.
