Firebird's Sketch of the Week Series

Had my EVA-Trek project on my mind a bit this week after finishing drafts for the first couple episodes and the outline for episode 3, so this batch of drawings has a larger Trek quotient than usual.

Drawing #190 / 2022 Artwork #53: Ensign Ayanami relaxes with some reading material. Keeping the period authenticity, I even went to the trouble to fully write out the Okuda label on Rei's PADD.

And we're back! Kind of a low creative ebb this week, but I still got some decent artwork out.

This week ended up pretty productive after feeling in a bit of a slump due to some IRL things going on for me. Art therapy to the rescue once more!

Drawing #195 / 2022 Artwork #58: Dipping back into realism with this portrait of a pensive Picard.

Hard to believe I'm on the precipice of hitting two-hundred drawings since starting last January!

Funny y'all should bring this thread up (and save me the effort to try to find it again), and thanks for being concerned!

We're back! I've still been drawing over the last month - in fact, I just completed doing 35 straight days of drawing an anime character for each year I've been alive. Since the Trek content was nonexistent for those drawings, I elected to not post them here, so that's why I've been M.I.A. in this thread for a while... That, and my 200th drawing didn't quite come off as I expected, getting an oddly hostile response for something that was intended to be stupid self-parody (lesson learned: Reddit is a fickle beast). If anyone wants to see drawings 200-235, they're all up on my Instagram to find.

So, now we're back with Drawing #236 / 2022 Artwork #99: Misato Katsuragi crosses over into the timeline of The Orville.

I managed to draw the last 6 of my drawings within a few days last weekend, giving myself a week to rest from drawing. I was exhausted after speedrunning not only those drawings, but I also completed scripts for the first three episodes of my EVA-Trek crossover project. And because I'm a dork, I printed a hardcopy of the pilot script, complete with accurate colored paper for the revisions. At this point, episodes 1 and 2 are done, episode 3 is almost at a final draft, episode 4 will be going to a first draft, and I'm starting to outline episode 5. I still don't quite have the gumption to upload the scripts online yet, though...

Drawing #238 / 2022 Artwork #101: Commander Kozo Fuyutsuki, first officer of the USS Nerv. Once again, I did the dumb thing and drew a background that was loaded with LCARS panels, which took the longest to draw and color.

Drawing #239 / 2022 Artwork #102: My anime rendition of Wrath of Khan returns to celebrate the film's 40th anniversary with this tribute to Shatner's signature moment. The only downside of this drawing was the final realization that my own 40th birthday is only a few years down the line...

I actually had to wear fancy clothing on Saturday no tie though.. but still, I looked like a respectable washed up high end bouncer..La Dolce Pirate.. ;):p
And as usual great work. :techman:

Drawing #245 / 2022 Artwork #108: Stardate 49012.1 - Commander Katsuragi catches up with some old friends while the Nerv stays over at Deep Space Nine following the Klingon attack of the station. From EVA-Trek episode 12, coming... probably next year, once I get around to writing it.

And speaking of EVA-Trek, I finally got up the courage and made the decision to post the pilot episode script over in the Fan Fiction forum last night. Funny how I'm more nervewracked over posting my writing that I am about my artwork. Go take a look, if you're so inclined: https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/eva-trek-an-evangelion-star-trek-crossover.311690/

Really nice work. :techman:
I had the pleasure meeting Mark Allen Shepherd in the UK when there was a Star Trek convention there, he signed my copy of "Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise"
He's a really fun guy and had us sing Morn to be wild..:D
