Finally, New Zealand pulls finger...

I'm still pissed with them dolling out Star Trek so sporadically in the 90s.

I have no faith in terrestrial TV.

Surely you have friends that can share access right now?

To be fair their did begin rebroadcasting TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY for a few hours on Sundays a few years ago.

I'm not watching this current series (not a fan of Moffat/Smith) so I'm not worried, but I know some people are waiting for it.

Considering this new internet law will hunt down any filesharers from September I think terrestrial tv needs to up their game in terms of getting shows to air.

Otherwise a lot of people will be loosing their internet connection!

That's not how the change in law works.

right now you're broadcasting a unique ip adress that any one with a simple piece of software can read to know what city you are in, and who your ISP is. Before when a copyrite holder would ask your ISP who a person is attached to an ISP number they have reasonable proof is stealing from them, your ISP would say "Fuck off and leave me alone". Now with just the smallest change to legislation, your IPS has to reveal your identity to almost anyone who asks "Who the damn hell is this?" and then they the righteousness take up a civil action against you for downloading such great works of modern cinema as Wolverine origins of BattleField Earth.

Your ISP doesn't care. They don't monitor internally. They just hand out names.

Your bio says that you are in IT.

I spent a few hours researching until I had the idiots guide to diverting your browser and/or filesharing utility through a free proxy, which is piss easy, but if you actually know what you're doing, then I'm guessing you could mask your ISP Number a thousand thousand times better than anything i could find though google.

Right now.

Setting up a paid proxy for New Zealanders would be money in the bank. You'd just have to set up/hire some over seas servers and you'd b good to go.

Oh I can easily hide myself as Mr Sanchez of Mexico but I'm just saying for average joe user it'll be tougher.

But enough of illegal forum talk. I'm glad NZ is showing it, but I wish they'd done it sooner. Then again, if they're looking for a time slot around this time of year they usually have to wait for shows to finish. I think the same happened when seaosn three aired.

^ I often disguise myself as Mr. Van Der Sloot from The Netherlands. Nobody ever suspects the Netherlands.
