Feline Follies

My cat is a great finger hunter too.

She has learned how to activate push button toys so she's pretty clever.

That observation reminds me about my cousin's (sadly "late") Maltese. The dog had a favorite toy, a mouse that would buzz and vibrate when one pulled and released its string. Understandably, my cousin and her husband would grow tired constantly pulling the string for 5 to 10 seconds of entertainment. One day, my cousin's husband was at the computer and after a bit he heard a strange sound. He wondered if it was the hard drive acting strange. But after a few seconds, it quit. But within another minute or two, the resonant sound echoed yet again. after a third or fourth time he "zeroed" upon its origin. "Lady" had gripped the toy mouse in her forepaws and with her teeth pulled upon the ring attached to the pull string! She'd rear back her head and then let the mechanism's tension pull it forward until her nose "booped" the toy's back end, never actually releasing her "bite" upon the toy. Yup, she learned how to activate the toy on her own and thus was able to entertain herself without human assistance!

Here's the kicker. Any new toy Lady was given, she's search for a pull string mechanism, reasoning they all functioned in a similar way!

^That's amazing!
Lady was a very smart dog from my cousin's descriptions. Her husband doted on that pup so much that they agreed she's be buried with him. An urn with her ashes was placed in his casket, cradled in his arms when he was laid to rest a couple of years ago.

My cat Charlie sometimes likes to look out of our open front door (there is a screen door too). She would let us know when she wanted the door open by standing on her back legs and clawing at the door.
We got her a mouse toy that was battery operated and squeaked when it was batted around. One day I hung it over the door knob by its string just to get it out of the way.
Charlie taught herself to bat the mouse when she wanted the door open.

I don't know how many of you are familiar with Canadian comedian and YouTuber Ryan George? He is probably mostly known for the Pitch Meeting series on Screen Rant, but he also does other sketches on his own channel, including the "The First Guy to Ever..." series. I saw this one today, and knew that I had to share it here. :)

I'm so used to his "Pitch Meeting" segments that I kinda' expected him to note "cats are 'tight'", which...well, could convey some disturbing connotations! :wtf:
