In other words, create some art inspired by Star Trek programmes made in the 20th century. Or, as @Starscape said:
I quite agree, and as I'm hosting this challenge, "Make it so!" (or some ENT-related saying instead... ;))

Anyway, welcome to February's Fan Art Challenge! What a wide open theme, and what a wealth of Trek to mine from! As well as everything mentioned above, don't forget TAS and the TOS & TNG Movies (ah, The Search For Spock, my favourite Trek film :adore:). And as this is all about "Old Stuff", I'd love to see plenty of hand-drawn, pencil/pen/paint sketches, concepts, and paintings etc. Although, if traditional materials are not your thing, have at it with all those ones and zeros! :D

    The Rules
    • the artwork you submit should be created during the month of the challenge
    • only one final image can be submitted (although it may contain multiple views)
    • your final entry should be posted in this thread (although dedicated WIP threads are appreciated)
The winner gets to sport the “Art Challenge Winner” banner below their name for the following month, and has the honor of hosting March's challenge. And be sure to help decide what the theme for next month's contest will be in the "Suggest Your Themes" voting thread.

You have until the end of the February (Tuesday 28th) to enter something (Eeeek! Only three weeks!).
If you have any questions, suggestions, or need more time, just let me know.

Remember, this is old school: please, no gratuitous lens flares! :rommie:

I'm working on something. And I might even get it finished well before the deadline for a change :rommie:
I hope there will be a few others. Have you got anything on the go, @Laura Cynthia Chambers ?

Nope, not really. I just wondered why nobody seemed to be posting anything yet.

Ah, it's still early days. Most of the regular art challenge entrants seem to be Last-Minute-Larrys like me. Or, like I usually am - I'm just about to post my effort in my thread, although I'll probably tweak it a bit between now and next week :)

Here's my entry. A ship designer in the 25th century is tasked with designing a small multi-purpose cruiser. His/her favorite starship design in history (like many of us) is the Constitution MK II. The result:

Oh, that is a very, VERY pretty ship, @Hunter-G!
And what an ingenious way to interpret the theme :bolian:

I'm not going to have anymore time for tweaking before the end of the month, so here's my entry - a poster for the Star Trek III spinoff/Short Trek featuring my favourite characters, scenes, and objects:

[I know I've gone against my own request for hand drawn/traditional materials to be in keeping with the "old stuff" theme, but this was done in MSPaint (which has been bumbling along since 1985!) - I think that might qualify for "traditional media" by now ;)]
    . . . . .

For anyone who wants to take part, or who is currently working on an entry for this month's art challenge, you have three days left to post your art work here - deadline is Tuesday 28th February.
If anyone needs a little more time, please let me know (I won't be putting the voting thread up until Thursday 2nd March anyway, as I'm not around on the 1st) :)

Some people like the really old stuff markedly less than the newer stuff. Especially if only a small skirmish knocks your big ship out of commission like its nothing...

I have an entry coming, it just needs some finishing touches. I'll definitely be done by the 2nd, @Cyfa.

I did attempt traditional media, but my foray with pencil and paper only resulted in the conclusion that I need more practice...

So, returning to the comfort of Ctrl-Z I scrambled, ahem, for another idea. ;)

Another batch of marvellous artwork! Thank you everyone who submitted something. I'll pop the voting thread up in a bit :)

Edit: Voting thread is up here!
