Hey everyone! I’m doing a poll on what everyone’s favourite story arcs are in various Star Trek series.

Story arcs qualify if they are two-parters, three-parters, multi-episodes, and non-consecutive.

This poll will be looking at DS9 story arcs. Multiple votes are allowed.

Vote and discuss your choices.

I think the period of post-By Inferno's Light to Call to Arms is my favourite and embodies my favourite type of episodic television, where each episode told a self-contained story but kept building up the Dominion threat. Maquis were trampled, the Klingons were forced back and I like that Blaze of Glory alluded to a possible Klingon/Maquis alliance which would have been an interesting side story, the Dominion going after possible Cardassian threats like Ghemor, Federation ships being lost and then finally the Non-Aggression Treaty, mining the Wormhole, the exodus from DS9 and then joining up with that massive fleet.
I've always been fascinated how element in the first season relate to the Dominion. Like elements in Vortex to the Omarion Nebula or Tosk to the Jem Hadar and whether the Dominion knew of the Federation before the wormhole was discovered by taking the long route.

Past Tense, Dominion Cold War, Changeling Infiltration, Eddington vs Sisko, Dominion War & Section 31 are my faves here. I was okay with the mirror universe episodes too.

Kira’s arc throughout the series in general is also worth a vote.

Probably the two episode arc The Maquis, because of the introduction of Sisko's friend Cal Hudson a very interesting man who was compelled to fight the Cardassians. I really wanted more of Hudson than that boring turd of character Eddington, there was much to see, just like Tom Riker but... it never happened.

Question about the Mirror Universe arc... the enslaved Terrans presumably broke free of the Klingon/Cardassian alliance. So do you think the Evil Empire was reestablished by the 25th Century?

If only they'd eliminated that annoying alternate Bashir instead of "Rules of Obedience" Odo.

Bashir's arc was great, from a wet behind the ears, skirt-chasing Starfleet Medical grad to a more mature, more patient with others experienced doctor. If only they hadn't followed it with the enhancements bit. There are good stories that could be written about being enhanced, but just letting him stay in Starfleet and go easy on displaying those abilities doesn't them. It's like telling a gay person to pass by not showing any same-sex attraction and going along with the sexist jokes that are being told around them.

Interesting topic/poll...To me the personal arcs are the most memorable--Odo- changeling to solid and back to changeling -- Odo and Kira, Sisko's development to Emissary, Quark's relatives, Ezri Dax, Damar.

Except for the fact that being genetically enhanced is illegal. In the 60's, when being gay was illegal almost everywhere, people with same-sex inclination had to do just that.

But you're right, they could have done far more with Bashir's... nonconformity than they did. However, given that DS9 had a huge ensemble cast and (unlike every other series of its era) relegated very few characters to the back burner, it's understandable that they didn't explore every road.

I wonder if the only reason Odo had the period as a solid was so they could do "Ascent", which would have been over in 5 minutes if he could fly like an eagle.
