Favorite Things About Enterprise

Tribble Threat

Red Shirt
What are your favorite things about Enterprise?

My favorite is that it shows humanity as underdogs. They're outgunned and trying hard to prove themselves to the other species. I love a good underdog story!

The ship being very basic and actually communicating with aliens was hard
Archer making mistakes in the first season
The Xindi Arc
Archer finding more about himself in Season 3
Archer going through PTSD in Season 4's Home
T'Pol and Trip's relationship
Archer's speech at the end of Terra Prime
Porthos
Those episodes from Azati Prime to Zero Hour were the best Enterprise ever got
The Vulcan Arc in Season 4

I think that's a good list.

When T'Pau was younger she was a little hottie.
Those ridiculous salt and pepper shakers at the captain's table.

When confronted with unrepair minor damage from a year before, Trip said "I was getting around to it."

Yes this.
The growth from season 1 to 4 is really good, his talk with Hernandez in 'Home' about how maybe they weren't ready when they started, and needed to be more prepared.

I really liked that talk between Archer and Hernandez too, and was impressed by Archer's growth. He's not a static character. And yeah, T'Pau was a looker. And I liked the idea of the Xindi, and much of that arc. Also, every Star Trek show should feature a cute little animal like Porthos. And it was great that communication was a little more challenging. I'd like to see more science fiction where the attempt to communicate with the aliens is the story.

Some of this might only apply to early episodes.

Transporter being new, unrefined, barely ready for living use. Loved the camping episode where the leaves got stuck in the guy. Of course it quickly became a crutch that they all used without much thought.

The initial hand weapons prior to the phase pistols. Liked the look.

Liked the pre-photonic torpedoes. Didn't like when they got the photonic which are basically just photon torpedoes.

Instrumental Faith of the Heart theme (see original "Broken Bow" premiere) and Archer’s theme for the end credits. Both good pieces of music.

Font type for the credits.

Primitive aspects of the NX-01 – interior (bridge, engineering, med bay, mess hall, galley, crew quarters, decon chamber, etc), grappler, spatial torpedoes, phase cannons, shuttlepods.

The uniforms, including the jackets and caps.

Realistic ship damage (from plasma storms, mines, and ship battles) and that it took time to repair them.

The addition of the MACOs.

The approach to the Vulcans (their initial hostility to humans going out into deep space actually does make a lot of sense); seeing them as an interstellar power at the time (influence and relations with the Klingons, Andorian, Coridanites, and Syrrannites; and their eventual reformation. Plus, how life was on Vulcan in general. The entire Vulcan arc is genius and put together extremely well.

The general approach to the Romulans.

Exploration of the Andorians, Orions, Tholians, Organians, and Denobulans.

More non-humanoid species i.e. Insectoid Xindi and Aquatic Xindi, Kovaalans, Wisps.

The Augment & Terra Prime arcs.

The 602 Club. Makes the show feel more grounded.

Juxtaposition of freighter life with Starfleet life.

The growth of Archer, Trip & T’Pol.

The less developed main characters (Sato & Mayweather) triumphing in the mirror universe.

I'll add the uniforms as well. There are two uniforms I love in Star Trek so far. It's the First Contact era uniforms and the Enterprise Uniforms. I wish Discovery had adapted some of that same design. It looks like the shoes they wear in Discovery are sneakers.

My favorite thing about Enterprise is Trip --his youth, his enthusiasm, his grief, anger, and joy. I love his good intentions, his devotion to his friends, his family, his ship. I love his sense of humor, his embarrassment, and how his powerful personality permeated the entire ship and the entire series.

What a lovely thread. :)

A few favorite things of mine, out of zillions.

The little character moments. Archer and Trip sharing a beer. Hoshi teaching Archer how to insult like a Tellarite. T'pol comforting grieving Porthos after he loses Archer in "Zero Hour." Soval's stiff, awkward, but sincere handshake with Archer in "Home." Trip and T'Pol bickering because they have inadvertently become bonded. T'Pol talking to baby Elizabeth.

Shran. We are all so lucky that Jeffrey Combs played Shran.

The look of the show. The NX-01 design, the cramped ship interiors, the uniforms, the great direction and cinematography, the intricate alien makeups. The design of Shran's expressive antennae.

Porthos.

T'Pol's makeover in Season 3 - her Vulcan eyebrows, hair, and jumpsuits were a vast improvement.

The portrayal of Vulcans as scheming, duplicitous control freaks and powermongers, stalling humanity's progress in space--because the Vulcans are terrified that humanity will lap them and become a stronger force in the galaxy. I loved Soval's transformation in the Vulcan trilogy from insufferable adversary to staunch ally of Archer and Trip.

The music. Especially Velton Ray Bunch's "Similitude" (Emmy winner) and "Home."

hello Enterprise lovers

DS9 is like a good solid wife,
but Enterprise was my first love.

My favorite thing about Enterprise is Vulcans. In this series, they seem more real, they seem closer and just cuter. Honestly, I found more than one favorite Vulcan in this series (Soval, T'Pol, Mestral, Yuris, all V'tosh Ka'tur...), while in the other series I didn't have any... well, maybe except for Sarek...

My favorite thing about Enterprise is T'Pol. Because she's a cute and curious character. I liked to watch the development of her character, for her rendezvous with the crew. And she's a Vulcan, which is a plus for me. Atypical Vulcan, it's double plus. She's good... this is the main thing...

My favorite thing about Enterprise is Archer. The most beloved captain of the entire saga, honestly. It is interesting to watch someone who is not perfect, who makes mistakes, but continues to go forward and does not lose faith in themselves and in their mission. I like this captain the best, because he is kind, good, simple and understandable, does not get smart and shows emotions, values every member of the crew and wants to be friends with everyone. The most important thing is that he has a charming doggie!

My favorite thing about Enterprise is Porthos. Comments are unnecessary. A charming little doggie! This beagle always pleased the eye and raised the mood.

My favorite thing about Enterprise is "Faith of the heart". In fact, I think this open credit is gorgeous. Music, video - everything is beautiful and good. Much more interesting than to contemplate the outer space and a flying starship...

My favorite thing about Enterprise is "Fusion", "Carbon Creek", "Stigma", "Fallen hero", "Cease fire" and all Vulcan arc.

My favorite thing about ENT was the episode "In a Mirror, Darkly Part II" presenting a Starship Class vessel in its glory; moving gracefully and powerful. There's exception where all of sudden the vessel has aft firing, TNG trait, but meh whatever. Their interpretation of TOS sets were interesting as well, and I thought the lighting was on par with Season 1 of Star Trek.
