favorite Starfleet SHUTTLECRAFT?

^ I was wondering the same thing so I popped over to Memory Alpha to find out.

In starship classification, a runabout is the designation of a type of vessel smaller than a starship but larger than a shuttlecraft.

Here is the original entry. It doesn't really help very much.

But if folks do want to classify the runabout as a shuttlecraft then I would say it is my favorite. I have always thought it was a beautiful design, inside and out. (If I had the space and the money I would build a full mock-up of one. I am not one to do that sort of thing but that's how much I love this vessel.)

If the runabout is not a shuttle... I have no idea what my favorite would be. None of them really stick out in my mind.

How about smaller than the Defiant but larger than a runabout? Two examples, not actually Starfleet, come to mind:

As for some of the others, a little reference spam:

Delta Flyer FTW. ;) though ENT ones looked kinda cool with the wings that would retract.

The "Type 7" (earliest TNG-era shuttle) is my favorite from an aesthetic perspective. The Danube-class DS9 runabout is probably the most practically designed "shuttle."

My favourite is the Enterprise-E shuttlecraft, popularly known as Type 11.
I was going to mention that LCARS 24 forgot about that one, haha. It's my favorite as well (tied with the Danube-class Runabout, if a Runabout is indeed a "shuttle".)

I'm also a fan of the Type 8 and 9, the Delta Flyer (other than the silly "retro" controls that Tom put in), and the Peregrine, but the Type 11 and the Danube are tops for me.

I agree the Type-11 from Insurrection, wanted to see more of it. The Argo from Nemesis was interesting, however, we never got to see the cockpit pilot section. The Runabout Danube or Yellowstone class were awesome too.

Class F and the class H from TOS is my favourite followed by TNG shuttlecraft from seasons 1 and 2 !!!
The “Class H” shuttle is a fan creation. Only one shuttlecraft type, the Class F, ever appeared in Trek TOS. And it's still my favorite. The boxy design dictated by time and budget constraints still looks modern and functional today. As Zefram Cochrane said, “It's simple and clean.”

I do like the runabout's because they are basically a ship for far fewer numbers with 'facilities' (if you know what I mean)...transporter...machine for food(my mind just went kablooey, so I forgot the term for that 'machine')...etc...

I do like the TOS and nuTOS shuttlecraft, but I think they are made for shorter trips where crew will be returning back to the ship.

I don't think that runabouts can be classed as shuttles. shuttles are auxillary craft of large vessels and installations like star ships, stations and star bases. Hence they dont have their own registry unlike runabouts. The Danube is also designated as a class, just like star ships, whereas shuttles are categorised into types. Therefore, they are closer to star ships than shuttles in how they are classified even if they are fairly small.

Okay, maybe I'll do the type 11 next. I saved your image for reference, and now you've got me gathering information and meterials on it, not finding much about the interior except this virtual tour on Youtube:

Unless someone has a convenient batch of interior shots, I'll probably have to search through Trekcore's screencaps. I don't want to start drawing until I have enough information. It's been years since I saw INS in the theater, and I don't have it on DVD.

The STXI military transport
It felt real - it's size was practical, it wasn't spotlessly clean and -holy shit!- it even had seatbelts. I fell in love with it when AICN those leaked shipyard pictures. The controls are sexy, too.

The Kelvin shuttle
It looked more like a standard Trek shuttle, but made real.

NX-01 Shuttlepod
Believable and functional, if a little on the small side.

The Delta Flyer
A cool little ship, although the Captain Proton levers were silly and it's got that vile 24th century carpetting. I liked the patterned window at the front.

I liked the Type-6 and Type-8. They're a little more mundane, but they look practical.

I also think the tiny little Type-15 shuttlepod was funny yet endearing.
