There were indeed, literally in some cases, which is why they didn't fit very well - Jonathan Frakes wore one of Avery's I believe. They were originally going to go with yet another uniform redesign but scrapped it last minute. You can still see this design in the early action figure runs.
The uniforms from Enterprise look like something I could imagine people wearing on a starship. Those uniforms would have looked great on screen. They were a mixture of Next Generation and TOS designs. I think only LeVar ended up actually wearing one but the scene was cut out of the movie.
I really love TNG seasons 3-7 uniforms. I feel like the addition of a collar and changing from the almost spandex like fabric to a polyester based fabric really made the uniforms look better. However, I really loved the DS9 and Voyager uniforms as well with the color on the shoulders. Those are definitely my top 2 favs
My favorite is the FC-NEM uniforms and the formal mess dress uniforms. But I'd like to see the Voy uniforms used as number 2 every day duty uniforms. With a specific color just for security people. Like forest green.
If those are flight suits, they're the most poorly designed, bulky, awkward, inefficient ones Starfleet could possibly have built.
It's not like you need less wind resistance or something. Maybe they were designed to be viewed through a shuttle window, so you can see their shoulders clearly?
I chose the TNG uniforms from season three to seven. Second place for me would have been the red film uniforms. The award for the worst goes to the First Contact onward uniforms that unfortunately made their way into D.S.9..
I like the uniforms from Star Trek 2 - 6. They all look so good in them, especially Captain Kirk, my favorite! Loyalkat
