Favorite Star Trek main character (all series!)

I love most of the characters listed but, I chose Dr. McCoy because only three people have voted for him so far. I'm sure that Spock will be the favorite all character of most people though...

Spock, of course. I have many favorites from the various series, but Spock is the most memorable. I'm so glad to see Mr. Nimoy reprising his characterization of Spock in the new film.

I had to go with Data because he has the least amount of qualities that I dislike. I really enjoy so many of the characters that I had to let that decide.

I have no clue how anyone could pick Janeway. I'm new to Star Trek forums but I've been a fan for a good 15 years and I just cannot fathom how anyone enjoys her over-emotional take on command.

She isn't my favorite character, by any means (I don't think she even makes my top 10 - Spock is and always has been my favorite character), but I like her a lot. She seems to inspire great admiration or great disdain - few people are neutral on Janeway. I like Data a lot, too - probably more than Janeway, now that I think about it.

I mean no disrespect to anyone who likes Janeway, to each his/her own of course, but I just don't get it.

I honestly couldn't make it through all of Voyager, so it's possible she would've won me over... but I doubt it.

More than anything I think it was the informality of her command that just irked me. She wasn't really in charge of her crew, she was more like a friend asking favors, especially with Chakotay.

^ I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree here, because I didn't see that at all. At all. I'd say she was a captain to her very soul. But I don't want to hijack the thread, so if you want to talk about this some more, maybe you should start a new thread. You'd find some who agree with you even over in the VOY forum, but...probably not that many. I don't want to mislead you about that!

With a list like that, it's awfully hard to just pick one, but I picked Data, as I can relate to his character more than the rest. Following close behind though, are Dr. McCoy and Scotty.

Spock and Scotty were my childhood favorites. I never took a liking to Kirk or McCoy for some reason.

I think my "top five" list is as follows: Jadzia Dax > Jean-Luc Picard > Data > Ro Laren > Spock

gotta go with o'brian. he was one of the better actors and the character shows more of a human side than most others. also, you get the comedy side to his character.

if it wasnt obrian, then i'd have to go for garek

(And I'm still agog that my favorite fictional character of all time has been reborn - something I never dreamed would happen - a mere matter of weeks now! )

The next favorite isn't even on the list: Garak.

After that, it's a tough choice between McCoy, Kira, Odo, Weyoun and Trip Tucker the Third.

Well, of course Trip is the best looking.

Yes, but Spock is arguably hotter. And as of a couple weeks, it won't be an argument anymore.

An interesting, well-rounded character peerlessly acted by Rene Auberjonois. I even was able to stomach his soppy romance with Kira.

It was tough but I settled for Chakotay but my other favs are Kirk, McCoy, Picard, Crusher, Riker, Sisko(season 1 to 3), Odo, Dax, Janeway(Season 1 to 4), B'Elanna, Archer, Hoshi and Phlox. I wish we had learned more about Chakotay's background.
