Favorite non-Trek characters played by Trek series regulars?

Working in advance a bit, but referring to the newly casted captain in Discovery, Jason Isaacs, I really liked him as Colonel Tavington in the Patriot and as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies.
And Blackhawk Down "Another taxpayer funded Delta safari? You boys are a bunch of undisciplined Cowboys."

Colm Meaney
I liked him in Random Passage, a Canadian miniseries based on the novel. It's about a small group of people trying to survive in colonial-era Newfoundland by selling fish. Meaney plays Thomas Hutchings, who suddenly gets a boatload of people dumped in his lap, and has to figure out where they're going to live and how they're going to survive, as they're more mouths to feed than he feels able to accommodate.

Nicole DeBoer in "Cube" Nerd who is trapped in a torture trap. I like how she had to overcome her fear to try and survive.
This is the only non-Star Trek thing I've seen her in. That movie freaked me out to the point where I couldn't even look at Rubik's cubes or test patterns.

I've seen Patrick Stewart in several roles prior to TNG: Sejanus in I, Claudius, Gurney Halleck in Dune, and Henry Grey in Lady Jane. My favorite of those is Sejanus.

The only other role I've seen LeVar Burton in is Kunta Kinte in Roots.

Leonard Nimoy played one of the best Columbo villains.
Agreed.

I enjoyed Leonard Nimoy as the villainous Achmed in the Marco Polo miniseries (the one from the '80s, starring Ken Marshall).

Voyager's guest Brad Dourif playing that raging, larger-than-life imprisoned serial killer in "Exorcist III."
I defy anyone to do a better job of playing Piter deVries, the Twisted Mentat in Dune. The miniseries actor never made it to the neighborhood, never mind close to Dourif's superb performance.

No love for TJ Hooker?
I really enjoyed the early episodes of T.J. Hooker. But I wasn't into cop shows at that time, so I didn't keep up with it. My grandfather watched the whole series, though (although Heather Locklear might have influenced his viewing choices).

Shatner was outstanding in Boston Legal.
I had a weird time, one night... I was watching Boston Legal while playing Speedy Eggbert on my computer. It's a very bizarre combination, as I was imagining Shatner trying to stare down the hazards and evil eggs with their glue gun weapons, intoning, "Denny Crane. Denny Crane." as if that was all it would take to make the enemy turn tail and run.

Nobody has mentioned Deforest Kelley. I never saw any of his movies, but I did see him in a hell of a terrific episode of Bonanza. He played a doctor who had been convicted of murder, was scheduled to hang, and then something happened to Hoss Cartwright... and Kelley's character was the only doctor within miles. The episode was one of the better morality play ones, as he had to decide whether or not to be a doctor one last time, when it didn't really matter to him what he did - saving Hoss wouldn't result in his sentence being commuted, and at first he couldn't see any reason why he should bother saving him.

John Billinsley on "Stargate" who plays a nerd. "Stargate" was a very nerd friendly show and he was one of them. Got to play one who was out of his deep on a dangerous mission plus was a "Star trek" fan which of course had to be a nod to his role on "Enterprise."
I think John Billingsley's character in this and his fellow nerds even made a reference to Star Trek. Something about thinking they were going to end up as redshirts.

"Oh come on Felger, we might as well be wearing red shirts!"

Also:
Felger: Bite me, Coombs! At least my heroes exist. If this was a Trek convention, you'd be all dressed up like a Klingon.
Coombs: VULCAN! FELGER! VULCAN! And I don't know how you can call yourself a scientist and not worship at the altar of Roddenberry.
Felger: (Imitating a random Star Trek character) Oooh, how are we going to get out of this one, Captain? Oh, I don't know, something to do with a Tachyon emitter?

 Loved that episode!

William Sadler as Sheriff Valenti in Roswell. He and Katherine Heigl were the only reasons to watch that show -- he, because he made an abysmal character in the books into probably the most sympathetic in the show.

I liked Marina Sirtis in NCIS, however little she appeared on-screen. I've never watched NCIS New Orleans, but if I did I might mention Bakula. Incidentally, Colin Trineer did a part on NCIS waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in its third season or so.

Everyone who hasn't already should do themselves the favor of watching “Man From Earth”.

It stars (among others) John Billingsley, features Trek alumni Tony Todd and Richard Riehle and was written by legendary science-fiction author Jerome Bixby no less. It's a sort of movie-length prequel to his TOS episode “Requiem for Methuselah”, only a million times more interesting than what this description makes it sound like. It's one of my favorite movies of all time.

Watch it. Thank me later. :)

Patrick Stewart as Avery Bullock in American Dad!

On the other hand, I probably could have lived without seeing Billingsley in those orgy scenes on TRUE BLOOD. :)

Did you ever see him in a series called Cold Case where he played a serial killer?

Possibly. I watched COLD CASE religiously for its first few seasons, but finally gave it up because Sunday football kept screwing with its schedule. Don't remember Billingsley on it, although I wouldn't have known who he was then.

^IIRC the character he played in that picked his victims from people who had already survived being a crime victim. And he knew about them because he was a records clerk at the police precinct.

That sounds vaguely familiar, but there have been so many cop shows with serial killers that they blur a little in my brain.

Wil Wheaton as himself on Big Bang Theory

Armin Shimerman as the caddy on Seinfeld

and as Principal Snyder on Buffy! Oh he was so perfectly spiteful and unctuous.

Colm Meaney in Con Air. I was bored with that car. Also Layer Cake.

Jonathan Frakes as Xanatos in Gargoyles. Gives real meaning to "Oh! you're so sharp you'll cut yourself."

Robert Beltran, Night of the Comet. Date night in the barrio?

What, no love for Connor Trinneer as "Michael" on Stargate: Atlantis? One of the best villains in that series, IMO. (Although towards the end, he was more of a James Bond villain but I blame that on writer fatigue.)

CT also played another evil Michael on NBC's short-lived "American Odyssey".

Scott Bakula on "Quantum Leap", of course.

John Billingsley played a child murderer and pedophile on "Criminal Minds"; he also played a murderous taxi driver on "NYPD Blue" who ended up being a very tragic character.

William Shatner as Denny Crane -- priceless.

Colm Meany in "The Snapper" and "The Van" - 2 Irish comedies that are a hoot.

Patrick Stewart in every damn thing he does, but notably as Claudius to David Tennant's "Hamlet" (Since I love David Tennant, I was in viewer heaven for that movie!)

Leonard Nimoy as the villainous doctor in "Columbo".

Listing more than one actor, but that just goes to show the depth and breadth of talent displayed in all the Treks.

Nimoy was outstanding in Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978).

It's in a small part, but I think Bakula is hilarious in American Beauty.
