I liked him in
Random Passage, a Canadian miniseries based on the novel. It's about a small group of people trying to survive in colonial-era Newfoundland by selling fish. Meaney plays Thomas Hutchings, who suddenly gets a boatload of people dumped in his lap, and has to figure out where they're going to live and how they're going to survive, as they're more mouths to feed than he feels able to accommodate.
Nicole DeBoer in "Cube" Nerd who is trapped in a torture trap. I like how she had to overcome her fear to try and survive.
This is the only non-Star Trek thing I've seen her in. That movie freaked me out to the point where I couldn't even look at Rubik's cubes or test patterns.
I've seen Patrick Stewart in several roles prior to TNG: Sejanus in
I, Claudius, Gurney Halleck in
Dune, and Henry Grey in
Lady Jane. My favorite of those is Sejanus.
The only other role I've seen LeVar Burton in is Kunta Kinte in
Roots.
Leonard Nimoy played one of the best Columbo villains.
Agreed.
I enjoyed Leonard Nimoy as the villainous Achmed in the Marco Polo miniseries (the one from the '80s, starring Ken Marshall).
Voyager's guest Brad Dourif playing that raging, larger-than-life imprisoned serial killer in "Exorcist III."
I defy anyone to do a better job of playing Piter deVries, the Twisted Mentat in
Dune. The miniseries actor never made it to the neighborhood, never mind close to Dourif's superb performance.
I really enjoyed the early episodes of T.J. Hooker. But I wasn't into cop shows at that time, so I didn't keep up with it. My grandfather watched the whole series, though (although Heather Locklear might have influenced his viewing choices).
Shatner was outstanding in Boston Legal.
I had a weird time, one night... I was watching Boston Legal while playing Speedy Eggbert on my computer. It's a very bizarre combination, as I was imagining Shatner trying to stare down the hazards and evil eggs with their glue gun weapons, intoning, "Denny Crane. Denny Crane." as if that was all it would take to make the enemy turn tail and run.
Nobody has mentioned Deforest Kelley. I never saw any of his movies, but I did see him in a hell of a terrific episode of
Bonanza. He played a doctor who had been convicted of murder, was scheduled to hang, and then something happened to Hoss Cartwright... and Kelley's character was the only doctor within miles. The episode was one of the better morality play ones, as he had to decide whether or not to be a doctor one last time, when it didn't really matter to him what he did - saving Hoss wouldn't result in his sentence being commuted, and at first he couldn't see any reason why he should bother saving him.
