Favorite costumes?

James Cawley and Vic Mignogna both did their own versions of the show but was their any collaboration? I recall that Vic and Michelle Specht appeared in the final Cawley episode as Klingons which was an unused Phase Two story! :klingon:

If it hasn't already been mentioned, I've always liked the Starfleet dress uniforms.

Not to derail the thread into a fan film discussion. The short of it is: they collaborated at some point, had a falling out and went their separate ways and productions.

I dunno, I like that better as a medical getup.

I think the command short sleeve tunic version would've worked a lot better if it was in the green fabric from the dress uniform. I wouldn't mind the ranks be around the sleeve or the shoulders; just imagine how much better that costume would be if the more appropriate looking Kirk, Brian Gross, wore it?

I agree the short sleeved command tunic would look better in the same fabric as either the dress uniform, or the fabric used for McCoy's version. And all the harping over whether command wears green or gold should just go away. Command wears both colors.

As for James Cawley, the problem I always had with his portrayal of Kirk is that he seemed to throw the patented Shatner Kirk-tics and see what stuck. There was no finesse like Vic had.

True. Robin Williams wore the actual original "Col. Green" jumpsuit, the blood-red one, in his debut as Mork on Happy Days. That episode was a backdoor pilot.

When Mork & Mindy went to series, they spent the money and had several Mork suits custom made, with tailoring and constructed shoulders, and in a lighter shade of red to be more comedy-friendly. :bolian:
I was at MOPOP (Museum of Pop Culture) here in Seattle last week and they had that costume on display right as you walked into the 'Worlds of Science Fiction' exhibit. They also had Kirk's original phaser rifle from 'WNMHGB' as part of their collection of various weapons/blasters. I would have taken photos if not for the battery dying on my phone.

The original rifle sold at auction in 2013:

Was is it loaned to the museum? A high-quality replica was available in 2012, retailing for $1000.

I'm not sure, I didn't see any information on the card, although I wasn't looking too closely. My guess it that it might be a replica. Paul Allen was a Star Trek fan and before it was the 'Worlds of Science Fiction' exhibit it was a 'Star Trek' exhibit with memorabilia from his own private collection. However, they also had a phaser from 'TNG' and one of Han Solo's blasters from 'Star Wars' along with a blaster from 'Forbidden Planet' and those were the real deal. They also had one of Spock's costumes on display as well. I was surprised to see that the shirt was purple instead of blue as it looks on television

Plus they developed a V in their foreheads! :vulcan:
JB

I forgot all about that. The TNG-era Vulcans and Romulans had built-up, prosthetic foreheads. It made the characters ugly, it created another needless continuity error regarding how a species looked, and having Sarek and Spock as guest stars hung a lantern on how stupid the foreheads were, because the classic characters could not suddenly be given the ugly prosthetics. It was stupid. Worse than the outlandish shoulder pads.

If I remember correctly, the franchise abandoned that bad makeup decision when the Vulcans showed up in Star Trek: Enterprise.
