Favorite costumes?

The Tholian Web costumes were cool, especially considering the low 3rd season budget.

Very smart design, placing accents suggesting conduits for respiration and other monitoring leading to the top of their hands. What some gloss over is the fact that this suit used Star Trek's first (Starfleet) hands-free, uniform-attached communication device, capable of contacting other members of the landing party or a ship.

? The picture shows Kirk pressing the button with his...hand.

Corrected--I should have said hands free as in not a communicator which was a hand-held device. Actually, in "The Naked Time", environmental suits also had a built in communicator, but was nowhere near as functional (as a part of a suit) as in the 3rd season version.

Kirk's first season wraparound. With the rank on the collar. I loved that aspect of it.

It seems like the line "A beach to walk on. A few days, no braid on my shoulder" in "The Naked Time" was written with that tunic from "The Enemy Within" in mind, but he didn't wear it in "TNT" or the one after. Then it came back in "Charlie X" (and caused a massive continuity screw-up). So the line was strange, like who talks in visual metaphors like that when he could have said sleeve.

It's hard to realize now, but for most viewers during most of their views, they didn't have the costumes and so forth from prior episodes memorized.

Well, if you watched them on NBC, Charlie X came first, so we at least saw the uniform once for a few minutes.

But I'm sure they're more talking about traditional rank insignia or epaulets. Kirk was an old soul and he was "drunk."

I like the Romulan uniforms.

Kor

Yeah, those are great. Way better than the TNG aircraft carriers.

The Vulcan outfits in Amok Time are pretty great, too. The weird masks are a striking and alien detail.

Also, the Mirror Universe uniforms are groovy — especially the sparkly gold sashes with the daggers.

Yup. Just before Marta goes to pieces...

What's is funny is there's almost no doubt that the nameplates on those say "Kirk," "Spock," "McCoy," or "Chekov." But maybe they covered them up.

I want to lodge a formal objection to the post above featuring **both** Deela, Queen of Scalos and Droxine. That's just not fair or reasonable. Next someone will add in Odona, Kelinda, and Drea to really go overboard. And indeed, there were plenty of good-looking guys on Star Trek as well, including Shatner. Gary Mitchell, Ensign Garrovick and Commodore Wesley/Commander Giotto come to mind as well, as does Zefrem Cochrane.

I thought we were talking about costumes. Except for a shade of color, they all essentially wore the same costume. Duh.
