I'm on Firefox right now, but sometimes use Internet Explorer. When one isn't working for whatever reason, I use the other, but typically prefer Firefox. It's faster.

I just tried Firefox, but I decided I still like Safari better.

I mean, it's nice that Firefox has Live Bookmarks and all that, but I don't like the way it handles them. On Safari, when you access a page with RSS feeds, it gives you exactly that - a *page* with all the feeds on it (within a timeframe that you specify). Firefox, OTOH, will only give you them as links that you have to select from the menu bar. And it leaves all of them in there - even ones you've already read.

Safari, without question.

I like it because of its built-in RSS reader.

Although if Firefox or Opera have such a thing as well, I'd love to hear about it...

Opera does have an RSS reader, it was one of the first browsers that did.

But that's only in the Opera mail client, isn't it? linky

And I'm trying Opera right now. It won't work with any of my RSS feeds. It says I have to use Safari.

Really? here is what comes up when I subscribe to a feed, and here is an article about the Opera reader.

I thought FireFox had a RSS rader add-on, but don't quote me.

Instead, I shall quote:
I prefer Firefox, but IE has gotten a lot better. Chrome I did have, and I liked its zippiness, but it lacks some of the functions I like in Firefox.
Add to that that Chrome is very very fast but still a bit light in features, and that's what I would have said.

Though FF does confuse me: it flies along fine for months, then for a couple, three weeks runs like a dog. No reason, just blah. Which is when I go to the alternatives.

Firefox 3 is the one I use. I've tried Google Chrome, it's fast but I hate not being able to use the middle scroll mouse button. IE locks up and crashes on me too often.

Really?

OmniWeb has had RSS support since 2004. When did Opera add it?

I recall how they claimed to be the first to support text-to-speech within their browser, but OmniWeb had that years earlier too (of course all of Mac OS X has text-to-speech support as it is a system wide service... so all applications can have it if you enable it).

I don't mean to slam OmniWeb, but why would anyone actually pay *money* for a web browser (OmniWeb charges $14.95) when all the others are free?

I don't consider it a slam... if other browsers did what OmniWeb does I would stop using it.

But I've been a happy OmniWeb user since 1997 and haven't seen anything in free browsers that make me want to switch.

As an aside... because OmniWeb gives me all the word processing tools I normally use for writing right in an expanded text window (which zooms out from the text field on the page) it is the easiest and most enjoyable environment to post from... which is why I only use Firefox to post on this site (so I'll spend less time posting here). :techman:

Most Mac users have no idea what their Macs can do... few know of Services because Macs didn't have them prior to Mac OS X and Carbon apps can't use them. Safari lacks features and the other browsers are unable to work with Services. I spend a good part of my day on the internet, and the application I do it with matters to me.

Besides, I haven't paid for OmniWeb since I upgraded to version 5 back in 2004 (and then I only paid $9.95 as I recall).

Proud and loyal Opera user for several years. :bolian: But I have been tempted by Firefox lately...

Firefox all the way. FF3 is still a little buggy, especially when it can't remember where to save a certain type of file.
I used Netscape prior to FF.
I've tried Opera, not different enough from FF to warrant staying with it.
I even have FF (v.2) here at work, where the machines are completely non-installable. I copied over FF portable originally, and entered the proxy server settings. It has updated itself since then (but not to v.3, that's only at home)

Also, happy promotion to me ;):evil:

I use IE mainly but have started to use Firefox recently on occasion.

Hasnt Microsoft just been fined for its promotion of IE above all other browsers?

Firefox, but why the "Microsoft Stinks" tag?

It was meant more "tongue-in-cheek". I guess it's only funny when you program in Java. I also program in C# at times so no I really don't believe Microsoft stinks.

To answer my own question though Internet Explorer is mandated at work although as a developer I get admin rights and have installed Firefox. I also use Firefox at home.

I've tried Safari but found it rather slow. I've also tried Opera and am planning on playing with it more since I'm intrigued. :)
