Fave Movie Trailers

Thanks for all those ideas! I'll have to check these out and study them.
I noticed the Terminator Salvation trailer. Pretty good. Keeps your eyes peeled wondering what to expect. I think a good trailer will do that instead of giving away too much. They synced the audio with the efx and transitions. I think thats good but can be overdone.

The teaser trailer to 'First Contact' starts off amazing before it gets into clips from the shows (which was unavoidable). The Don LaFontaine voiceover, ST:VI opening theme, and the Borgified Starfleet symbol really set a great ominous tone that befits the Borg. I wish they had kept this part for the beginning of the second trailer:

The teaser trailer for 'ST:VI,' without revealing any footage or plot from the film, really sets a great mood for the final voyage of the original crew, especially with the great Christopher Plummer narration and the old clips projected on the Enterprise's hull:

'The Matrix' trailer really did make you say "woah" at the amazing visuals that are kind of taken for granted now, and had one of the few website tie-ins (What is the Matrix?) that I really did rush home to check after seeing the trailer for the first time:

The great 'Dark City' trailer from which The Matrix borrowed heavily in theme. I love 'Sleep Now' by Hughes Hall. Awesome music:

'From Hell' has a great combination of music ('Reflect Tree Whispers' by Billy Corgin) and visuals:

The first 'Pearl Harbor' trailer was brilliantly done and really made me look forward to seeing it. It's too bad the movie was shit:

Bay's 'Transformers' also had a good trailer for a better movie:

'The Fountain' trailer was breathtaking. The film was alright, but not great.

The Independence Day trailer was good at building suspense:

The two 'Godzilla' teasers were perfect with the way you had no idea what the film was until you're surprised well into it (the fishing one looks like some weird comedy film at first). The "Size Does Matter" tagline, Godzilla's roar, and the foot stepping on the T-Rex were great promotional gimmicks, but unfortunately for a bad movie:

The teaser trailer for 'Terminator 2' actually manages to add the the Terminator mythos by showing the construction of a Terminator that wasn't shown in the film itself, while promoting the film well and not revealing any major plot points. The theatrical trailer is great as well:

The fantastic 'Fellowship of the Ring' trailer has already been mentioned, and is probably my favorite trailer, especially when 'Gothic Power' cranks into high gear. I didn't care much for 'The Two Towers' trailer apart from the use of the 'Requiem for a Dream' music during the latter half, but the 'Return of the King' trailer really recaptured the magic of the first trailer:

'Watchmen' and 'The Dark Knight' are nearly flawless. Watchmen really made me say "wow."

I thought the mixture of music, visuals, and dialogue in the 'Appaloosa' trailer really worked well:

This one has always been a personal favorite of mine.

I also think the Revenge of the Sith trailer is damn good.

The Curious Case of Benajmin Button. Manages to go the whole story without revealing too much and it gives me goose bumps. Best trailer I've seen in a long while.

That movie looks great!

I can't get imdb to play (the youtube trailers work fine tho) but there's an ad playing on TV with fantastic music. Not "The Carnivale of Animals," it's something I think is original.

The Don LaFontaine voiceover, ST:VI opening theme, and the Borgified Starfleet symbol really set a great ominous tone that befits the Borg. This one has always been a personal favorite of mine.

I don't remember ever seeing the Borged Starfleet logo. Was that shown in America? It does a great job of showing what makes the Borg so fearsome (once upon a time).

I love the trailer for the '84 version of Dune. Only reason I hung onto the original DVD release when the trailer-less newer edition came out.

I almost did the same thing. Of course, really, I just need that brief clip of Sting bellowing, "I WILL KILL HIM!!!!!" looped over & over again.

Another good one, Star Trek First Contact 2nd trailer has so many what the fu**? moments....while watching it you are like what happens in this film? It is so cool It is a trailer that makes you want to see the movie

From Data with a different face saying 'Resistance Is Futile'

At the time, my sister & I were sure that that was Lore saying "Resistance is futile."

The first theatrical trailer for The Dark Knight. I remember watching it in the theater and instantly knowing what it was...and then to hear the voiceover narration by The Joker ("You've changed things. There's no going back. You see, to them, you're a freak...LIKE ME!") and then the crackling laugh. It was mind-blowingly awesome. More than two years of wait to see something of that movie and it was well worth the wait. In my opinion it stands as one of the best constructed trailers out there.

Amen! I've put in my I Am Legend DVD more times just to watch that trailer than to watch I Am Legend.

"What do we got?"
"Nothing. No name. No other alias. Clothing is custom. Nothing in his pockets but knives and lint."
"Evening, Commissioner.... Why so serious!?!"

the voice....or while seeing the Data on screen?

^Seeing Data on screen with a different face. Rather than organic flesh grafted onto Data's face, we assumed that it was Lore wearing some kind of war paint. It only seemed natural to us at the time that Lore might show up in a Borg movie since the 2 of them were last seen together in "Descent."

I see, interesting

The best trailer I've seen in years is for Vantage Point.

http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/vantagepoint/

It's got a three act structure, telling the story of the film without giving a whole lot away. It gives you several questions regarding the plot without providing answers and entices interest. It's masterfully edited and perfectly scored.

Too bad the film was decidedly mediocre.

I believe it was. At least I seem to recall seeing it theaters here.

Yeah, whoever designed that opening montage really gets it as far as the nature of how the Borg should be depicted.

The Star Trek VI music used as the assimilated Starfleet logo crawls over the screen music is what really makes the teaser memorable for me.
