Fave Movie Trailers

I enjoyed the new ST trailers. I was wondering if there were any trailers that were really memorable to you. I ask cause i want to make one and looking for inspiration.

I love the trailer for the '84 version of Dune. Only reason I hung onto the original DVD release when the trailer-less newer edition came out.

The original internet trailer for Fellowship of the Ring, especially the shot of the whole group walking past the camera... it was when I first let myself start to dream it might be good. :D

Say what you will about the film, but this trailer for Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace is still fucking awesome.
I remember I taped that off MTV when it first aired, and I must have watched it about 200 times. The last 40 seconds are just brilliant. I still love that shot of Obi-Wan jumping up with his lightsaber and kicking the two droids
"Wipe them out. All of them"

Before that there was the trailer for Star Trek First Contact
Again, I taped and watched that over and over. In those pre-internet days this was my first ever glance at the new Enterprise, the new uniforms, etc.
I just love the voiceover "In his nightmares, he can see them. In his mind, he can hear them. In his soul... he can feel them"
"I've just recieved reports from Deep Space 5. Long range sensors have picked up..."
"Yes I know. The Borg"
"Set a course for Earth. Maximum warp"
"Now, in Earth's darkest hour. He must fight them, again"

Oh man, watching that again just gives me goosebumps. So frakking awesome :techman:

Since those two there hasn't been a trailer that excited me as much as that until the first Watchmen teaser

Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Then I go watch the movie only to find out that it sucked :(

These were two that I was thinking of as well. I also loved the theatrical trailer for Deep Impact, despite giving away the entire plot of the movie.

er, what?
Thats what I said

I know, I meant that is awesome too to go with what I said for Episode 3 trailers
Oh ok.

I'm just watching the First Contact one over and over right now actually
Its so brilliantly constructed, how it builds to the last part with all the quotes together
"Watch your future's end"
"We've lost shields and out weapons are gone"
"Resistance, is futile"
"Perhaps today is a good day to die!"

Pure awesomeness

Another good one, Star Trek First Contact 2nd trailer has so many what the fu**? moments....while watching it you are like what happens in this film? It is so cool It is a trailer that makes you want to see the movie

From Data with a different face saying 'Resistance Is Futile'

To Lilly saying 'Jean Luc blow up the DAMN SHIP!!' to Picard saying 'No!......NO!!!!!!'

To Worf saying 'If you were not any other man...I would kill you where you stand'

To the Borg Quenn saying 'Watch your futures end'

AWESOME! Trailer to an awesome movie

The Lord of the Rings trilogy had some really good trailers.

One trailer I have always liked is the trailer for The Chronicles of Riddick. I didn't think the movie itself turned out to be that great though.
Yes, that Riddick trailer is great...

One of my old-school favorite trailers is the Judge Dredd trailer... It really looked great, with a really cool trailer score. Of course the final movies was not so great. But I still like this trailer.

The Super Bowl trailer for Armageddon.

The MTV Star Trek 25th Ann. Special trailer for Star Trek VI.

1st Watchmen trailer.

The only thing I don't like about this trailer is the last line by Picard - it just doesn't seem to fit. The trailer builds builds builds then just seems to drop in the last 5 seconds.

One on my recent favorite trailers just for the atmosphere is the Matrix Revolutions Teaser that was shown at the end of Matrix Reloaded. Much better than the theatrical trailer which followed later.

The narration is so moody and great... Everything that has a beginning... has an end... ... I see the End coming .... I see the darkness spreading... ...And you are all stands in his way... ...If you cannot stop him tonight, I fear tomorrow may never come...

Add to that the great operatic music over the action scenes at the end. Just a very well put together trailer.

The trailer for the first Underworld film stands out in my mind. Atmospheric, sleek, music perfectly arranged with the action sequences. Probably the only time a trailer made me go see a movie, as opposed to topic/concept.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

The first theatrical trailer for The Dark Knight. I remember watching it in the theater and instantly knowing what it was...and then to hear the voiceover narration by The Joker ("You've changed things. There's no going back. You see, to them, you're a freak...LIKE ME!") and then the crackling laugh. It was mind-blowingly awesome. More than two years of wait to see something of that movie and it was well worth the wait. In my opinion it stands as one of the best constructed trailers out there.

I also have to mention the first trailer for Batman Begins. I remember watching it on my computer, surprised to see it because I was expecting it with Comic-Con. I remember it loading and then the first images unspooling (that of Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne falling into the cave, Alfred) and then Christian Bale's chilling narration that will never leave me ("They told me there was nothing out there. Nothing to fear. But the night my parents were murdered I caught a glimpse of something. I've looked for it ever since. I went around the world. Searched in all the shadows. And there was something out there in the darkness. Something terrifying. Something that will not stop until it gets its revenge...ME"). In ways the first trailers for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight feel somehow subconsciously connected, maybe because of the voiceovers provided by Bruce Wayne and The Joker, respectively, in both of them.
