Fat, dumpy, a DUFF

This is the first fashion doll I have owned for 45 years. I belong to two different Lammily groups on Facebook and I didn't realise how much there is to learn.

I debating with myself whether to boil perm her hair or not.

I might buy a Ken doll to keep her company as the Ken shoes and some of the clothes can fit her. I will pass Ken off as her brother and have her stealing his clothes.

Yeah, she definitely has Ken-style feet - or at least the "ankle" reminds me of modern Ken dolls.

I don't think it is her head because I have seen a photo where a Barbie and a Lammily heads were swap and both still looked good.
Wait, people are modding dolls? That is kinda hardcore. :techman:
:guffaw:and I don't even know what that means!
There's someone on one of the gaming forums I belong to who does this. Her work is absolutely gorgeous (yep, on a forum dedicated to a computer game, there's a very long doll thread that isn't about action figures! :D).

I agree that something is odd about her head. She's smirking.

That's a cute doll. I don't know where anybody sees ugly or fat.

And she is kind of smirking. :rommie:

I am very fond of her. Finally a toy that looks like the real thing. It'd be a nice change if kids were trying to look that natural instead of attempting to barbify themselves.

And she's definitely not fat! She has nice and realistic proportions.

Are her fingers able to configure into the Vulcan Salute?
Or the Nerve Pinch?

Agree with the others and rhubarbodendron about seeing a nice normal Fashion Doll. Surely, they will come out with a male figure?

I think she is charming and a positive direction for dolls. I love that she is smirking!

Some of the Lammily haters are saying that she has an underbite. They are rather mean about it.

Ai wonder how they would react If the company brings out disabled dolls like some people are requesting they do.

If people have time and the inclination to watch it I would like some opinions on this YouTube Review as he is the person who called The Lammily Doll a DUFF. I personally think he made up his mind to hate the doll even before he received it.

I think what she's doing is terrific! She's essentially giving them a new lease on life as a better, more role appropriate appearance.

Agreed.

Barbie was great for it's day, but these days it's nice to see something that doesn't encourage eating disorders.

I have read many reviews of the Lammily doll and watched reviews on YouTube about her. Those that hate her have called her fat, or dumpy, or ugly or a DUFF. I hadn't come against DUFF before but it means Designated Ugly Fat Friend.

So I am asking people here - is this doll Barbie's DUFF?
Fat? Hell, she's got a better body than half of the flesh-and-blood female population -- even if her legs are a bit short.

Barbie was great for it's day, but these days it's nice to see something that doesn't encourage eating disorders.
Is there any hard data to back that up? I mean, are little girls really starving themselves because they want to look like Barbie? She's a doll, for goodness' sake.

I guess you are being willfully fallacious?

Barbie is, of course, predominantly a symptom - not a cause.

well theres that russian real life barbie doll girl, that has to have a ridiculously low calorie liquid diet to maintain that thinness. googling 'real life barbie' finds them, and really its pretty horrific.
