Fargo Season 3 premieres April 19th

The stamp thing I found believable, just the whole address swapping thing and especially the air conditioner thing. And I'm undecided on this "Oh you thought it was a LOAN" business.

To me the first episode isn't as strong a start as the first two seasons but we'll see where it goes.

That East Germany thing was a little bit blatant trying to copy the style of the Coen Brothers. It reminded me immensely of the first scene of A Serious Man. Also did that scene take place in East Germany or Cardassia?

I loved it more than the first episode of Season 1 or 2. And I didn't know Mary Elizabeth Winstead was in this, so I'm already in love with this season. There was more humor which reminded me of the movie.

I just think if you're going to say "These events are told exactly as they happened" you shouldn't have murder plans that rely on somebody just happening to stop to smoke directly under your air conditioner. :)

It's like, if I were to plan to murder somebody, and my murder weapon was bowling ball launched by catapult. And the bowling ball had my name and address on it.

Fargo does idiot characters so well. With the snowy desert landscapes, off beat characters, and the different way of speaking, there is an other worldly quality to Fargo. Not just because of the space ship, I mean.

Loved the first episode. Ewan McGregor, Michael Stuhlberg and David Thewlis are all terrific, but Carrie Coon and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have already stole the show for me.

I'm also very curious about the East Berlin scene and also how this season will connect with the previous two.

Edit: I forgot to note that the statue Gloria picked up when she returned to her home after the murder looked a lot like a Hugo Award. Would make sense considering the books she found.

According to the second episode, it's the "Golden Rocket" Award, which is obviously a thinly-disguised version of the Hugo. Trademark issues?

As for the UFO last season, I loved it. And, honestly, if I found out that there had actually been a string of real-life UFO sightings when and where my story was set, there's no way I would have been able to resist tossing that in somewhere. Sometimes real life just throws you something too good to pass up. Serendipity.

So far I think the characters are a bit too dumb.

I liked the UFO sighting because it had been established that season which narrator had written history and the narrator believed he saw a UFO. I found that brilliant. But the characters were so much more interesting last season. We'll see where we're going with money laundering British guy.

Some of them are more naive than dumb, really. Was the cop's father a pulp fiction author? (love those titles and covers)
Guess she wasn't lying about being on her period, ew.

^that was all kinds of nasty.

I wonder if the rich brother will play along with the mobsters? Felt bad about their poor lawyer.

What a very strange episode, even by Fargo's standards. But I loved every minute of it.

Focusing on only Gloria, who I think is the most engaging character of the show (largely thanks to Carrie Coon), this episode took a major detour to actually focus one of this season's foremost mysteries of the season: Who was Enis Stussy? Gloria thought it was important for solving his murder, or perhaps she was just curious and needed an excuse to get away? Either way, what we got in return was a bizarre mix of history digging, flashbacks, a weird gimmick box, and an animated narrative of the oldest robot in the universe...that somehow connects to said box. And I for one now want to read The Planet Wyh.

Nice touch by the casting the department by hiring daughter/mother pair Francesca Eastwood and Frances Fisher to play the same woman, 35 years apart. Besides, it's always good to have Fisher show up, even if it's just for two scenes. I don't know about the relation until I looked up Eastwood and saw her whole name. The resemblance is very striking.

That was a wonderful episode--very complex, fascinating and down-right heartbreaking.

I hope we will see more of Ray Wise; I wonder how he'll fit into the big picture?

Yeah, his appearance stood out, if only because he's a well-known character actor. Probably just a one-off like Frances Fisher, but perhaps not considering the nature of his appearance.

That was an interesting episode. Like they said "How can we expand one of the characters in a way that has absolutely nothing to do with the central murder plot, but is completely in line with the general style of Coen Brothers movies."

Ok I'm little confused here. The producer seems a legit one, not a con man who can disappear in the thin air. So, he set up this elaborated con for what? Sci-fi writers in the 70's weren't exactly swimming in gold.

Loved the Peter and the Wolf motif in this episode, complete with Billy Bob Thornton narrating (following Martin Freeman's footsteps last season). Each of the characters are perfectly cast for each role, especially Varga as the Wolf and Gloria as Peter.

Past those trappings, though, I wasn't that engaged by the episode aside from Varga's slimy meeting at Emmit's home. Good to have Shia Whigham in a sheriff role again and Moe Dammik is decidedly very different from Eli Thompson.

Or the soap dispensers or hand dryers...

It's a weird character quirk. I don't expect there to be anything more than just that, but it is odd that there's such a heavy focus on it, especially in this episode with the restroom scene.

Considering the huge amount of food he ordered at the restaurant, only to promptly barf it so up, I assumed he was bulimic.
