Fans, what don't you like about VOY?

Me loves technobabble. Keep it comin'!

I like technical talk that makes sense, or is relevant to the story. I mean, I own almost every great TM ever made. (Still annoyed there wasn't a VGR one... :vulcan:) But when it reaches the babble point and feels gratuitous, there for the sake of being there, then it's just distracting to me.

Well, it was never distracting to me. Like I said - never paid any special attention to it so it never bothered me either. :)

What I don't like about the show? Anti-VOYAGER fans who bash the show with crappy arguments.

So what didn't you like about VOY?

Hmm, where to start. I dislike the entire cast except for the Doctor and possibly Seven. I also think variable warp field geometry is done just fine without moving nacelles.

But the single biggest things I hate about Voyager is the utter ruination of the Borg as a credible threat. Granted, this slide began in First Contact by introducing a queen and hunamizing the unstoppable wall of mindless automatons, but Voyager took it to a new level.

One of the biggest flaws was the Voyager/Borg alliance story arc aurrounding Species 8472. The Borg DO NOT negotiate. They would have assimilated Voyager and her crew and took the information. Peroid.

By the end, the Borg were reduced to (as someone else on this forum coined) the Slurpee cup emeny of the week. No threat, no nothing.

DAMN YOU BERMAN!

So in another words you are not within the limits of Trek fandom.

If you mean do I go to conventions or wear a Starfleet uniform to movie premieres, then no. If you mean have I been watching and (mostly) enjoying Star Trek since I was five years old, then yes. I'm even creating new fans in my children. My son loves Trek movies (except TMP) and my daughter loved the new flick.

It's not my fault that Rick Berman and Brannon Braga ruined the last couple years of DS9 and nearly all of Voyager.

Red alert! Me sees the first comment ever about someone not liking the last seasons of DS9! Explain, please. :)

And I disagree about your comment on Voyager. Season 7 was weak, but otherwise Voyager is brilliant.

DS9 got real soapy. I make fun of people who watch soap operas and I'd be damned if I was gonna become the butt of my own jokes. The *prophets doing away with 1200 Dominion ships reinforcements = deus ex machina. Ezri Dax = GAG!!! We may well have called the show "Quark's." They castrated the mirror universe. I could write more if I wasn't so tired.

Voyager ruined the Borg as a threat species. The greatest threat in the history of science fiction reduced to a blathering bitchslap with Janeway. Fluidic Space = WTF? Admiral Janeway saving the day = deus ex machina. Tuvok's hairline was frikking DUMB! Technobabble does not an engaging story make.

Don't even mention ENT. An abortion of a concept that never should have happened.

I liked the concept of fluidic space. Endshame was shameful, yes. Tuvok's hairline - nothing wrong there. Technobabble - there was not more of it than there were in TNG and DS9.

And I have to agree with the mirror universe in DS9. Not my cup of tea at all. However, I don't think there was too much Quark.

Brannon Braga (And to a lesser extent Rick Berman) had major role in the last seasons of DS9. Braga non at all, and Rick was really just the supervisor and nothing more.

Yeah, that's not the case. Brannon Braga never worked on DS9 at all, not as a producer, not as a writer, and he never even pitched a story to the show. Braga went directly from TNG to Voyager and he only had control of Voyager for season 5 and 6. As for Berman, he was an executive producer on DS9 for all seven seasons but was only involved on a story level on two occasions; he is credited with the story for Emissary with Michael Piller and he was credited with the story for The Maquis with Michael Piller and Jeri Taylor, that's because The Maquis was a set-up episode for Voyager.

DS9 was helmed by Michael Piller for its first 2½ seasons, everything from mid-way through season three was helmed by Ira Steven Behr, and if you knew anything about DS9's production at all you would know that Behr and Berman were constantly arguing about the direction Behr was taking the show. For example, Berman wanted the dominion war to only last 4 episodes but Behr managed to get it to last the whole two years.

Edit: As for "most of Voyager", Michael Piller was in charge of Voyager for seasons 1 & 2, Jeri Taylor took over when he left and she ran it for seasons 3 & 4 and Braga took over when Taylor left. However, Braga mostly left Voyager after season 6 because he was working on creating Enterprise with Berman, as a result the final season was headed by Kenneth Biller.

People blame Berman and Braga for everything because they're easy targets, not because they're really responsible. The more responsible ones dodged the criticisms.

I didn't like Season 7... at all, except for a couple of episodes. Kenneth Biller just let any old script come through.

He even stated that he had no real idea how to end the series, so he just decided to use the Borg again.
