Fandom never changes…

I think sci fi/fantasy fans tend to actually be pretty nuanced in their views and reactions, in particular for Star Trek, Spider-Man and Batman there's a lot of acknowledging that there have been multiple good though very different versions and many people even have multiple favorites including with very different versions.

And with Star Wars a lot of the fans who were really disappointed with and critical of the prequels do admit, agree, some emphasize that many of the actors McGregor, Portman, Christensen, Neeson have been really good in other roles, that's a lot more nuanced than for some other fandoms as well as many general viewers just thinking if actor was bad or annoying in big prominent role they must be really bad untalented actor generally.

You must not hang around fandom spaces very much because this isn't true at all.

Just did my rewatch of Mandalorian Season 3 and it still is at the top of my list for most enjoyable seasons for the streaming shows. It has a good twist with the challenges, Gideon is a true villain you like to hate, and the world building is very fun. My wife watched it with me for the first time so we were enjoying it as a fun adventure like Bad Batch that she had just finished.
Hm, I really should do a rewatch of the whole show prior to the film and see if I enjoy it more the second time around (aside from "The Jedi" which I already rewatched for Ahsoka). I was pretty critical of the first season as "merely enjoyable" but I grew to love the characters and its storytelling as the show progressed, so I imagine I'll enjoy the first season better next time.

When I rewatched the prequel trilogy for the first time since its release and after seeing the entirety of The Clone Wars (which I didn't watch until after it was over), the thing that stood out to me was how I loved Portman in and generally didn't enjoy how Obi-Wan was written in Episode I, but then that was swapped in Episode II. I think all of those actors did well with what they were given, but a lot of the time, that wasn't enough. Portman in particular had diminishing returns but that wasn't her fault.

They’ve ruined the franchise!

I'm not really surprised by this. As I recall, TESB was not that popular during its initial release. Which is probably why it had earned less money than the other two Original Trilogy films.
