Family Guy: Star Wars Episode VI Grade and Discuss

Not to mention the opening crawl of "It's A Trap!" was about how they're sick of making these things but FOX forces them to because they make so much money

I thought it was pretty funny for the most part. I liked the endless nods... the special edition creature, their ewoks... A chicken fight would've been epic, but hey, Boba just kind of falls in the pit... I guess they're highlighting how Lucas screwed the pooch there :)

The constant Conway Twitty joke just shows Seth MacFarlene and his writers collective lack of talent.

I think the "joke" with Conway Twitty is that the writers know we all hate it but they keep doing it anyway because it's funny to them that they keep making us watch it.

I thought 'Blue Harvest' was hilarious, but they got progressively less funny with the two subsequent episodes. I barely even laughed during 'It's a Trap.' I think the Emperor taunting Luke/Chris with Seth Green insults was the funniest part. The lack of an epic chicken fight that everyone expected made it even worse.

The CGI sequences are impressive however. It's more interesting to watch it as a technical feat and to see CGI animated versions of classic Star Wars scenes at this point than for the humor, which is severely lacking.

Robot Chicken's effort this year was better, but not by much.

I think I read somewhere that Conway Twitty was originally just meant for a one-off WTF moment joke, but Seth MacFarlane liked it so much that he insists on bringing it back so often.

I've begun to question Seth's abilities in recent years. Lately he seems to think things are funny that annoy the hell out of me and disgust my wife, whereas we both used to enjoy Family Guy.

The sock puppet was hilarious as was the pitcher denying the play!

I'm I reading this right?
It sounds like you believe it's personal.

It was a pretty ridiculous question.

"His writing annoys me and disgusts my wife."
"Are you taking it personally?"

Again I must say, :cardie:
I can't see where you'd infer anything personal about our not liking his writing. Do you think everyone else in the thread with a negative opinion takes it personally?

Just like the movie it was parodying, the best parts were the scenes with Luke, Vader, and the Emperor on the Death Star.

But overall, I'd say the trilogy got worse with each installment. Blue Harvest was great, but neither of its successors measured up to it.

If I did, why would I ask just you?

...but you've answered my question, all the same.
Thanks, much appreciated.

Thought it was funny enough, though I wouldn't pay the full blu-ray price if I had the decision to make again. There were a few laugh out loud moments and enjoyed the Star Wars parodies on the whole, but in the commentary they say the scroll is pretty much right and it was hard to make it good because so much of Jedi is just copying earlier things in the series so they end up parodying things they already parodied.

Do the individual Blu-Ray releases of 1 & 2 come in widescreen at all?

I just find it weird that 1&2 in the set are fullscreen & 3 is wide.

I watched them last Saturday, back to back.

Like a lot of others, I found them to get a little less funny as they went, but enjoyed the whole trilogy nonetheless.

Of course, some have the opinion that the actual SW trilogy got a little less good as it went along, so maybe it's art imitating art.
