Falling Skies Season 4 discussion thread - Spoilers

These aliens must've caught Earth on a bad day when they originally invaded because how can they not handle small groups of people who are hungry and low on weapons? I guess that mech walking right past Hal without seeing him pretty much said it all.

The cities were destroyed/nuked.

Is it possible they appropriated mankind's own nuclear stockpile?

If the aspheni were able to launch all the planet ICBMs simultaneously, that would save on weight as far as their ships go, although no one is talking about radiation like ever? Massdrivers?

Throwing a few thousand tons of the asteroid belt at Earth's major cites would be a minuscule use of resources and require no more Math than it takes for their ships to go from a to b.

Consider the man power.

3 Espheni removed a thousand cities, staffed by 3 billion people in an afternoon.

Here's the problem.

After humans stop congregating in cities... You can't target 20 people with a mass driver without boots on the ground to paint the target, unless you're willing to saturate a continent and remove any chance of survival, but by that point the Aspheni themselves were the ones with boots on the ground, and like #### they would want weapons of mass destruction going off a few miles either side of where they are summering.

We've seen no signs of destruction on a massive scale. And even if they dropped asteroids on the Earth there would still be the equivalent of a nuclear winter. It's never going to make any sense. The only thing we can assume is that the Espheni force that was sent to Earth is small and very limited in resources, and expended most of them on its initial attack. They want to appear overwhelmingly superior, but they're in over their heads.

Mechs are made of super metal. They would be difficult to build on Earth. Sure they could make shitty mechs with shitty earth alloys but that's not what Man is fighting.

How many Billion skitters did they bring with them, or do those things breed like rabbits?

Oh.

Have we seen any pregnant Skitters?

Have we seen any baby Skitters?

(Are these baby Skitters? Are adult Skitters 20 feet tall?)

Maybe that's why the Skitters were so parental over the harnessed Children if they have been sterilized?

This happened on Stargate.

A minor Goul'd decided (the one's with T'Pol from Enterprise.) that pregnancy and raising children interfered with his war machine, so he forbade both.

Did anyone think that Maggie and Ben were going to make out last week?

(The actor is barely 20, but the character is probably younger.)

If she's even still with Hal, does she think he's dead?

But it was what they were building over a non nuclear Boston in the first season. No super metel then, just Earth crap.

Yeah, those Mechs seem pretty useless. It seems like you could probably just wait until they pass and follow it down the road for a while before moving off to the side. And the 3-5 second delay between seeing a target and then being able to fire (while your guns spin up?) seems like a brilliant feature also. :techman:

Coming up on a mech from behind is an excellent strategy. On foot, in a vehicle . . . doesn't matter. I bet they lost a lot of mechs that way early in the war. Thus they supplement Mechs with a bunch of alien hand-to-hand combat specialists . . . the SKITTER!!!

Some shows are just so ridiculous they are funny!!!

The mechs probably didn't get on the ground until all the tanks had been destroyed by air support.

Besides the mechs don't work until the Espeheni have built a radio tower to control them.

The resistance doesn't do that any more.

Use em interference to take out mechs by the thousand or target radio towers to make the effect permanent.

It's almost like the espheni didn't watch the Phantom Menace.

The Espheni's real efforts are directed elsewhere. They've sent their equivalent of "F Troop" to deal with us.

Are you thinking elsewhere on our world, or elsewhere in the galaxy? Again, there seems to be several hints of another race that are adversaries of the Espeni somewhere 'out there'.

And I'm still wondering what the real reason was for the majority of the Volm to have left the planet. I'm not sure I buy the reason that was given.

I was thinking elsewhere in the galaxy, against the unnamed enemy, but also the Volm. And possibly others. They appear to be stretched a bit thin (in more ways than one).

Have you ever ran from someone who is not going to stop chasing you?

When I was 12, I ran this kid to ground, then I stuck a finger up my nose and wiped a booger the size of a ping pong ball on his face because I didn't want to punch him.

I realized that I should have punched him almost immediately, and started running.

I agree, as mentioned a couple of times in the series, since they weren't expecting that kind of hard-headed resistance from us humans, I'd say that they bit off a bit more than they could chew with trying to take Earth, if in fact they've managed to piss off some other race.

This is probably the reasoning behind engineering Lexi to be their secret weapon.

Although I suppose telepathy in general is "implausible" science fiction, Lexi's nature and powers make no scientific sense to me. She's like Q, and I don't see Falling Skies as the kind of show that needs that.

You know who else was in a cocoon?

Liam Kincaid form earth Final Conflict.

Who also grew to adulthood shortly after his birth and also had magical alien hybrid super powers.

Fuc'n tropes.
