Falling Skies new trailer and posters

Falling Skies and Terra Nova are my two most anticipated shows about two things I really enjoy in scifi: alien invasions and dinosaurs.

It's not the same regime at FOX anymore as their cancel-happy predecessors. They're usually pretty good at giving scifi shows a fair chance to succeed in the ratings now. Dollhouse and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles were low-rated but got second seasons before being canceled, and they've kept Fringe alive despite it struggling a bit in the ratings.

True, but I think Terra Nova is going to have to do a lot better than those shows in the ratings to secure a second season based on how much more expensive the show is to make than Dollhouse/Terminator/Fringe.

Terra Nova will have to stand on its own ratings to justify its budget. But people need to get over this gut reaction to blame everything on Fox. Fox has shown a willingness to give sci fi shows as much of a chance as they can. Firefly fans just can't accept other shows surviving while theirs died.

It's got Spielberg attached to it, that alone should guarantee it enough viewers for at least a second season.

If it guarantees anything, it's more viewers for the premiere. Whether it gets a second season will depend on how slowly those viewers drift away.

Worked for SeaQuest DSV ;) <--- That show was crap from day one.

Re: webcomic backstory

I just wanted to remind everybody that this premiers tonight in the US on TNT. I don't know about anybody else, but I'm really looking forward to this one. I can't wait!

ME too. Checked out some of the Behind the Scenes stuff on "On Demand", I'm excited.

Re: webcomic backstory

Would it be Ok if I started a review thread? I saw somebody say something about letting the person who started the pre-release thread start the review one in another thread, so I thought I would ask before I started one.

I'm hoping someone does a discussion thread for it tonight; I'm kinda psyched for this, and look forward to chatting with others about it. Having just watched Battle: Los Angeles last night, it will be interesting to compare the two.

Yeah, go for it. There's no rule where anyone gets to call dibs on starting the thread. I'll be looking forward to discussing it tonight.

Fine by me, there's a misplaced thread in Gen Media but I'll direct them over here. The reviews on this sucker have been far better than I expected. My favorite one compared it to ordering a dish of flaming chicken at a restaurant, because who doesn't like to order food that's on fire, and then finding out that it really tastes good too! :rommie:
