Faith of the heart has grown on me

I liked it a lot when I first watched at 12, mostly because it was really different from the Voyager theme/intro which I had gotten tired of. Rewatching it's OK, not as good as let alone better than the best themes (still about tied with Voyager's) but fine, still nice to do something different and convey that the show overall was trying to be different.

I liked it from the start. I think it's still a good piece of music and I've always thought the lyrics a) convey the human spirit and b) the situation Archer - rightly- believes humanity is in, that is being held back by the Vulcans (an aspect of the show I've always found interesting).

I think the reaction to the theme song when the show was first being aired, with protests outside the studio, was ridiculous and over the top.

Hey nothing beats upset Star Trek fans.

Speaking of which, the Seasons 3 and 4 version of the theme isn't as good as the first version and if you disagree with the musical science behind it you're worse than the Na'khul.
That is true. Only seasons 1-2 were aired by Swedish public service and by the time I saw season 3 on Netflix I wondered what the heck they had done to the song.

Because I feel like it expresses the human frustration with being held back by the Vulcans, and certain other elements at the start of the series, a bit better.

Sorry for the insane thread necro but I didn't think anyone else on Earth liked that song. I love this to bits.

Very underrated song and amazing singer.

I like the song. I even think it would make a good theme for a sci-fi series. I just don't think it's a good match for Enterprise specifically.

I downloaded the whole song a few days ago and have been listening to it since. I do think it was great for what the series was trying to convey. They really should have changed it to the ITMD theme starting in season 3.

I recently found out that the Faith of the Heart song on the show is not the complete song. I really like the song so my husband recorded for me and I am trying to learn all the words now. It really adds more meaning to the song for me. :) Has anyone else heard all of it?

I bought it on itunes- I like it and was considering using it for a ringtone but settled on buying the Discover theme song ringtone.

I would have been fine with the exact same song all four seasons, but replacing it outright would still have been better than that silly, unnecessarily jazzed-up version. It had an artificial "everything's going to be more extreme" feel to it. If anime has taught us anything, it's that it's okay to completely change up your title sequence. That and absolutely every character in the show must be in the title sequence, even if they don't make their first appearance until ten episodes in.

I agree. The upbeat version makes me feel like I'm supposed to be snapping my fingers and rocking my heal. It's a bit happy-go-lucky, and feels kinda cheesy.

The s1 & 2 version is solemn, more emotional, and with more gravity. Amazing what such a small difference can make.
