Fair Haven and Janeway's "moral dilemma"

So you're not considering looking out for the following 26 pages?

Or the next 5 issues that complete the miniseries?

You are a stronger person than I ma'am.

When it comes to soap, I buy whatever is on sale.

If I could make my own for less, I would.

What did the Doctor mean by "The occasional passing alien captain"?

EMH: I understand your trepidation, but you're the Captain. You can't have a relationship with a member of your crew. They're all your subordinates. So, where does that leave you? The occasional dalliance with a passing alien? Voyager could be in the Delta quadrant for a very long time. A hologram may be the only logical alternative.

Before anyone on Voyager can have sex LEGALLY with an unknown species, the Doctor has to sign off on it, although how invasive those tests are could be anyone's guess.

This seems like a moment or moments which Janeway might chose to lock off or redact from the public record, but still the sexual health of the captain would be part of her standard evaluation and psych profile that eventually by the beginning of Season three, Henry Starling read cover to cover.

But if Janeway was erasing all her conversations with the Doctor about safe sex with new aliens, and the hard medical data collected to underpin those conversations, of course that lightbulb was going to think that she was hard up and frigid in season 6's Fair Haven after 6 years of nothing, and urge her into the arms of that make beleive publican becuase the EMH was wholly unaware of her actual "number".

I'm saying that 3 is larger than zero.

The Doctor thought her number was zero.

Any number over 40 since Caretaker would make her a Kirk level spaceslut.

But she spent the first four and a half years thinking that mark was waiting for her.

Or at least that he was so sad that his penis forgot how to activate.

OF course her number wasn't zero!

She is Janeway and none of her panting fans have ever panted over her being an ice queen. Because she isn't and couldn't be one because THIS.

Okay there would have been dutiful Mark celibacy but you know I bet she was kind of relieved she didn't have to keep that up for 70 years after the pain of being dumped wore off.

Really it's not intention, it's opportunity. I know there were references to nice shore leave rest stops that they never showed us, who knows what went down there. Very nice things I'm betting.

0 since Caretaker, not 0 since birth. :)

As far as the Midas array went, how graphic was the communication allowed?

What was it, 3 minutes each with face to face communication?

But they could have sent hours of Blue home movies... Although in the case of Chell, arn't all Andorian home movies Blue?

If Holograms count as 0, I suspect that it was 0.

Beautiful... Sorta?

Gagging for it... Not especially.

You've mocked Kim for that speech where he asked Kathryn if she had ever been in love... When that boy looked at his captain, he did not see a person capable of sex. Harry thought he was teaching a dried up virgin about emotions and recreational acts she had simply failed to notice in her first 40 years.

You know like when a toddler first finds his dork and then tries to tell everyone that they have one too because if they did know about their dork, they'd be playing with it like a skipping rope too, and since they ain't, then he's the first person to discover dorks!

Oh.

On the Mentalist, a Noob asked Tim Kang if he had ever considered the possibility of the Mentalist and the boss lady from the Craft (Such a bad movie.) ever hooking up. Tim replied "No, never. Because then my brain would have exploded."

Harry not believing she was capable of sex is like a kid not believing their parents could possibly do it. That's all about Harry, not Janeway.

Now, I agree Janeway needed to eventually get it on with someone. They used the excuse that she "couldn't do it" with a member of her crew because everyone is her subordinate. I get it. But having Janeway go to those lengths seemed a little bit out of character.

I think Janeway felt it was somewhat out of character which is why she had qualms about some aspects of it, possibly it's the first time she'd included sex with her regular use of the holodeck. She'd bonded with holograms before but it had been the same way you might bond with an MMO character of your creation or an NPC in a game who you really like interacting with. Leonardo etc.. adding the sex shifted it to another level for her and that's what threw her.

I don't think she was going to "great lengths" doing it though. I think she saw it as a normal, something to encourage unpartnered crew members to engage in given their circumstances in the DQ. Eventually when everyone else is doing something your personal squeamishness about it breaks down, why not give it a whirl? It's not like giving Chak a whirl where you have to look at him every day afterwards for seventy years, you just walk away and end program.

So she tried it. And she couldn't quite handle it. And in the end she was okay about that.

Yeah agreed. I liked seeing that side of Janeway, the one who does need to have somewhat of a recreational or personal life away from her captain's seat. And I agree she herself was worried / scared about what she was doing, but in the end I think she made the right decision. If she had let it go on and on it would have caused issues down the line.

what sort of "issues" are involved in private sexual relations with a hologram? Seems to me it would be the most issue-free kind of relationship possible.

I'm really OCD about how locked the front door is before I masturbate.

I usually have to stop three or four times mid course to reconfirm how locked that door is.

But that's the thing - the Doctor was wrong when he said that. A captain can certainly have a relationship with any crewmember they want to. Fraternization is legal and allowed in Starfleet - as long as it's consensual. So I can only assume the Doctor was putting forth a guilt trip or something.
