Failsafe - 1 of Mack the Ripper's Best **SPOILERS**

BrotherBenny

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
While the title really says all I have to say, I will add one small point.

I haven't read the eBooks for the CoE stories after that point, so, when Carol was being stoned, and Gomez, Hawkins and Stevens, were killed peppered by bullets, I really thought one of them was going to die.

Great piece of writing, Mack.

Just one CoE question, what story has the next shakeup of the da Vinci when we have a massive change in personnel?

^ Thanks for the words of praise, Xeris.

As far as the chages to the da Vinci's crew, I'll let KRAD answer that, since my familiarity with the SCE/CoE series diminishes rapidly after my own last contribution, Small World.

We don't, really. We'll see occasional folks arriving and departing (particularly in Corsi's security detail), and the events of Wounds leads to a cascade effect of changes in one other department (notably in Progress, Turn the Page, and Ghost), but we don't have another Wildfire-style shakeup coming any time soon, no. :)

Does that mean that David won't be writing any more CoE for a while? Because a fair number of X'Mari and Venekans died in that one.

David, have you EVER written a book where NO ONE is killed?

^ Yes.

Was "Yes." an answer to the first question about CoE or the last about not killing people? If the latter, out of curiosity, which one(s)?

Both. :D

Everyone got out of "Waiting for G'Doh" alive.

Everyone got out of "Waiting for G'Doh" alive, I suppose that's true. But it was a close one, Kebron wanted to break someone. As for "Small World" I haven't read that one yet. But I shall when the CoE trades come out.

Slightly OT: When are the trades for Mere Anarchy and Slings and Arrows going to be done? (and yes, I know that S&A are still coming out)

No idea. You should just go ahead and buy them as eBooks. You'll be happier. Trust me.

:D

I hope not for years and years. Just get the ebooks and be happy. Also be happy that you saved some trees.

Well, I bought the occasional e-book before I was credit-impared (Haven't tried the Visa gift card idea mentioned elsewhere yet, but I will let everyone know how it worked out once I do), but since I will buy the (hopefully) eventual trade anyway (with apologies to the trees I didn't save), I hold off on most simply to avoid the double-dip.

But that's not exactly a "book," is it? :)

Haven't read Small World, so I'll take David's word for it.

Why double dip? If you have the ebook, you don't need the pbook.
It's a preference of format. While I have nothing against e-books in principle or practice, I simply prefer having a print edition.

Some people bought Kill Bill volumes one and two on the day they came out. Others are waiting for The Whole Bloody Affair to be released. Simply a matter of preference, not a value judgment.

I like reading the ebooks, but given the choice, I still prefer the paperback or trade paperback. I choose to double dip because I want to read the stories early and help them still get published, but I also want the new cover art and book on my shelf for future readings. The paperbacks will also reduce the amount of time I spend re-downloading the ebooks when I upgrade my PC.
