Facebook trekkies?

Yeah, I left LJ some time back because I couldn't be arsed to keep a reasonable time table on writing journal thoughts. I mean, there were 7 month gaps in there. 
(Sorry for not writing "trekkers" - I always found the term trekker too harsh. It sounds like it should be a piece of a car or something)
Do we have a TrekBBS Facebook group? I don't know if anyone feels uncomfy sharing that but I for one would love to make some trek friends on there
Or if anyone wants to add eachother from here you can do that too

I get requests from total strangers like that with some frequency on Facebook. From both men and women (who presumably don't know I'm a girl - I have an odd first name so maybe they don't know?).
But if I check out an invitee and see I have 15 mutual friends with them...all of them from here, I figure they are probably good.
I have not sent you anything because you said earlier in the thread that you never go there anyway. Is that still an accurate statement? Or do you turn up from time to time now? I can't remember for sure and am too lazy to go back and look...but that might have been in the really old part of this thread.....
I think I'm going to start up a Facebook just to have Star Trek friends. LOL
I just chuck everyone into "trekbbs" list, so I can put updates, etc just for trekbbs folks, or exclude you if I wish.
Anyways I'm here ... or if we have loads of mutual friends, I'm the one called Joel. Quite sure no-one else has my first name at the moment. Oh please say who you are here. It just makes it easier for me.
You know, some of us who have been around this board for a decade or so sort of get complacent sometimes I think...and become less aggressive about getting to really know new people when they come here. So many people have come and gone, you know.... It's not that we are snobs or don't care...it's just the number of people who have come thru here is kind of staggering.
But if you are serious about staying on this board and becoming an 'old timer' yourself, I think befriending some of us on FB is an excellent way to get to know people. Shoot, I can think of a couple of people who have been on this board with me for the whole decade I've been here...and I only REALLY got to know them on FB.
You learn a lot more about people and what their life is really like. And some of the 'personas' are also broken down, from what I have seen. And just nice people who have a lot in common remain.
I like being friends with people from here over there for that reason.
It's been kind of fun trying to figure out connecting the friend request with the poster (when they don't tell you).
I do show up from time to time-- unpredictably, though. I'd be happy to Friend you if you want.
