Explain The Origin Of Your Username...

I realized too late that some posters might think I named myself for Kira Meru, mother of Nerys, mistress of Gul Dukat. D'oh!

I registered on TBBS long before I was a regular here and your name in Misc is one of the first things I remember about the board. I didn't know why you wanted to be Kira's mom online!

   Yep, that happened a lot. But I think I've been here long enough for people to know about my cat.

The meaning behind Alrik is soooo outdated that it should have been changed years ago, but I just never got around to doing it. The first time I registered, long before the infamous 'Troll Wars' and 'Great Account Purge', I had signed up as Alrik of Valt. I wasn't all that impressed with the character, but I had just come through a divorce and left to raise two kids. The idea of The Perfect Mate was, for reason pretty obvious, very attractive to me at the time. After the 'Great Account Purge', when I re-registered I shortened it to Alrik. Probably should have changed it then, as RL had already provided me with MY perfect mate.

Still open to a change if anyone has any great suggestions. ;)

I loved Quasar too! He wasn't my favourite character but he was certainly up there. For some reason I liked every Mark Gruenwald comic I ever read. DP7, Captain America and so on.

I have trouble with names, so I kept throwing random letters together until I had something that was somewhat pronounceable. I think it might have been inspired by the WarCraft III character Kael'thas, but I can't be sure going back that many years.

That's where my older, also common, nickname, Xarthat, comes from - randomly clashing letters! Hey, I was 12 or so.
But of course, it was merely a setback, and now I'm using a nickname which is slightly more pronouncable (at least in my country... I reckon it may cause some problems in English-speaking countries).

I got mine because one of my favorite characters in all of Star Trek was Tomalak, mainly from "The Defector" and "The Enemy". The numbers were actually my Boy Scout Troop, representing a good time in my life. I figured they fit well.

Yeah, Mark Gruenwald was a severely underrated writer. I loved all his work as well.

I love the way Quasar is always polite to everyone (including villains) despite his power level.

It's only a coincidence that Rama is an incarnation of the Hindi god Vishnu, which is the epitome of maleness.

Hindu (not Hindi) and I've never heard that before.

Yup typo.

My dog's name is Kirby (who is named after the late, great, Kirby Puckett of the Minnesota Twins). I really wanted a cool name like Agent Zero or something, but I my brain locked up during the registration process. My dog was curled up at my feet, so I went with him. In retrospect, I'm very happy with this name.

I had a few when I first went online. One was Scotus Australis, which means 'Southern Scot'. Born in Scotland, moved to Australia when I was very young. Decided to abbreviate it.

William Shatner's pronunciation of "sabotage." The link in my sig explains, if you haven't heard it.

I'd like to think of it as a tribute to the energy he brought to all of his roles and his tendency not to take himself too seriously.

It's an homage to George Lucas and his first feature film, THX1138, which was adapted from his student film of the same name. As I am sure many of you know, variations of THX1138 appear in many of his movies and the the theater sound system. MHT are my initials.
