News Exclusive: Scott Bakula Eyeing Star Trek Return In President Archer Series Pitch From ‘Enterprise’ Producer

Erm, ‘Star Trek Origins,’ just like every other movie announcement we’ve heard for the last nine years, is the Trek version of the boy who cried wolf. Production was supposed to start on it in December 2024. It’s now October 2025, and nothing has happened with this. NOTHING. And nothing ever will.

And as far as President Archer? I also would rather have that than Legacy. But I’m not deluding myself into thinking that it’s going to happen. It just annoys me when these guys like Matalas, Goldsman, Sussman and the like try to make it sound like ‘if the fans just voice their wants, this show will happen!’ It’s complete and utter bullshit, and disingenuous to the poor saps who get deluded into thinking that’s true. Skydance didn’t just pay a shitload of money just to produce a tv show about an aging Jonathan Archer from a show that barely anyone watched and was considered a failure. They’re also not going to go back to the Kelvin Timeline, because that’s nine years out of the public consciousness. They’re going to make something new.

By and large, I agree. It has to be something new.

Not even standing sets will swing Skydance into making more of the same. It's just not a good selling point after a lengthy merger.

New is probably the best thing they can do for everyone involved. I just hope that Skydance don't think that a FOURTH version of Kirk and Spock is the way to save Star Trek, because they'll be in for a shock.

P+'s new CEO wants more female-headed dramas (Kirk, Spock, and Archer ain't gonna cut it):

Deadline said:
According to sources, Holland and her top programming executive, Jane Wiseman, EVP, Head of Originals for Paramount+, had been sending out feelers to the creative community about their interest in premium female-driven drama series to compliment Sheridan’s male-skewing slate, with female thrillers near the top of their wish list.

We've got Starfleet Academy. We've got #StarTrekLegacy.

Whatever she needs, Star Trek™ can deliver. 😊 🖖🏼 :techman:

"We've still got the sets!" is not the greatest selling point for a new series.

I'm leaning towards them cleaning house entirely, but some popular female characters might just make it to the new era, if that's what they're after.

They're already paying for Starfleet Academy.

It does cut down the decision trees (!) significantly.

We're here and we're doing our part. 😑
