News Exclusive: Scott Bakula Eyeing Star Trek Return In President Archer Series Pitch From ‘Enterprise’ Producer

This. And I doubt very much that Jeri Ryan would be happy in a role where she's just giving orders to other characters and doesn't have any new development for her own character.
That’s why many “after the end” story continuations are so boring. Once your character has completed their story and development arc, there’s nothing left to explore.

That's a writing problem, it seems to me. How many people do you know in real life who have one and only one arc? Surely a larger than life character can have more than one arc. Hell, that was what Picard was supposed to be about.

Sigh. I feel like a broken record here, but again I will point out:

CBS/Paramount just cancelled a show about a crew on a ship named Enterprise. If they wanted another show about a crew on a ship named Enterprise, they would have just kept SNW going. So clearly, the concept of a crew on a ship named Enterprise has been thoroughly played out. So no Star Trek Year One, no Star Trek Legacy, and no Kelvin movie with Pine, Quinto et al on the Abramsprise-A.

Now with that said, I also think the concept of Sussman’s President Archer series could work if done correctly. But here’s the thing: it’s not happening. It was an old failed pitch that CBS/Paramount/Skydance have no interest in doing. Sussman even stated there is no show in the works.

Now here’s the deal. I will be going on the Star Trek cruise in February. This will be after the first season of SFA debuts, and before the final two seasons of SNW will be broadcast, but they will be in post-production by then. There will be plenty of people on that cruise who will be in the know about Star Trek’s future, and I plan on finding out everything I can and letting you all know, from the horses’ mouths, so to speak. And hey, if Skydance suddenly thinks that Bakula’s returning is a good idea, you’ll know that too. But frankly, I’m not holding my breath that some grand revelation will be revealed.

Yeah, I don’t think for a second that the show will actually happen, but the Archer show is certainly the most interesting idea for a show I’ve heard in a while.

That’s not to say I wouldn’t be over the moon with joy if Year One happened. But it would be more of the same, and while I’d be perfectly fine with that, considering how SNW was seemingly brought to a somewhat premature end, it seems TPTB don’t want more of the same.

I don't think it will happen but magic 8 ball is not as clear as many are, and I lack certainty of what is next.

I personally don't see Paramount cancelling SNW because it had a ship named ENTERPRISE or them changing their minds for no other reason than things get expensive as productions go on.

It’s not that difficult to figure out.

Then you completely misunderstood my post.
