The review on CNN was similarly not so great.

"Slowly going where the franchise has been before..."

I honestly like the low-key, deliberate pace of the first episode of Picard, and the pace of the story so far.

In contrast, while I generally enjoy Discovery, I think Discovery's major flaw is the breakneck speed of the stories. There is no time to consider the last thing that happened when the next damn thing happens.

The headliner of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" has become the modern face of the "Trek" franchise (sorry, William Shatner), and not just because he has chosen to reprise his beloved role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in CBS All Access' latest swing at the long-running sci-fi franchise.

This guy needs to say no to drugs. NEITHER Stewart nor Kirk (although if you talk to folks more people will associate Kirk/Shatner with Star Trek than anyone else) is the MODERN face of the Star trek franchise.
