He makes pitches to paramount. He did not pitch legacy.
If Paramount made a ton of money off of Picard. Don’t you think they would’ve told him to work on a follow up?
It is their IP and their streaming platform.

Must be why McCoy doesn't like the transporter.I remember once, back in the day when ENT was the whipping boy and accused of disgracing and destroying the franchise, that people claimed it couldn't be in the same timeline as TOS because Captain Hernandez is a woman.
(snip)
Just like ignoring how the 90s were scared of same sex couples. There were people that even claimed the transporter had 'cured' homosexuality.

It was pretty close with that Tawny Newsome thing. If Paramount made a ton of money off of Picard. Don’t you think they would’ve told him to work on a follow up?

Why would they. Picard was scheduled for 3 seasons only. Kurtzman was working on SNW and S31. Also STD was wrapping up.
It was pretty close with that Tawny Newsome thing.
I hope one day someone spills the beans on what the story of that season would have been.It was pretty close with that Tawny Newsome thing.
I think it was a mistake Paramount announced that project so early before it was even greenlit or the concept itself was fully settled. I get they were trying to capitalize on the buzz of Tawny Newsome and Justin Simien being attached, but it turned into much ado about nothing. That Tawny Newsome thing was never actually a thing, I believe. It was a reward for the work she had done for the franchise.
I’m not sure anyone here ever saw that as a serious option.
That's not a "full reboot" just because the Ewok movies went. A full reboot would have decanonized everything. It was essentially just a reboot of the EU.Only SW of the 3 franchises you mentioned had a full reboot that decanonized movies and tv shows (Ewok movies, Clone Wars 2003 show, Droids and Ewoks cartoons).
I think the merger stuck it on permanent hold tbh, but the announcement at comic con gave it some added credibility. That Tawny Newsome thing was never actually a thing, I believe. It was a reward for the work she had done for the franchise.

I have a weird feeling that a story from the series may have been folded into Series Acclimation Mil. When I watched the episode, it gave me a "workplace comedy" vibe, and all I could think of was some of the hints about DS9 being an inspiration.I hope one day someone spills the beans on what the story of that season would have been.
Season 1 of Academy was written before Paramount announced the Newsome/Simien project.I have a weird feeling that a story from the series may have been folded into Series Acclimation Mil. I could be way off, of course.
Well that answers that.Season 1 of Academy was written before Paramount announced the Newsome/Simien project.
Um no.If I have the timeline of it right Akiva had wanted to do a Pike show prior to Pike joining season 2 but you can bet if Paramount didn't see the potential for profit they would have passed on SNW. As much as they make decisions I disagree with it was clear Picard season 3's viewership was down to the TNG cast reunion and a follow up show would not have been like the TOS movies with the entire old gang back on a ship together every episode so it wouldn't have capitalised on that viewership.
Has Paramount secretly edited your copy of the show to look different?

They didn’t think to capitalize on something that is popular? Is that the question/statement you’re actually going with?
Yup.If Paramount made a ton of money off of Picard. Don’t you think they would’ve told him to work on a follow up?

Again. Kurtzman was in charge. It was his decision what to bring to tptb. He did not want legacy. It wasnt his idea. Matalas was gone. He could have went to matalas but he didnt.
