Evidence of SNW being a possible alternate timeline from TOS

No, it doesn't.

It doesn't have to be anything. There's no reason for people who like it to get excited by something else that Paramount declares to be Star Trek.

Because the only people who "need" for Trek to be transformed are the Ellisons. It's a property they own and want to make money from.

When you say that "Trek needs to be rebooted" you're saying "Trek needs to turn into something that people now like, instead of what it is."

Well, why?

Because people love the brand name? Because that's all you're selling.

Wherever they head next, they definitely need to tone down the reliance on nostalgia in the storytelling. I think audiences are generally growing tired of it.

When they killed off a character on Discovery everyone was like, "who cares since we never got to know her?"

SNW develops a character before killing them and everyone's like, "God he was cool why did you kill him?"

So you would care, dammit!

Given how the Aenar used to live out their lives before the Federation I'd say Hemmer lived a full life and career. He was more fortunate than many of his people.

You guys tell me. I don't remember anyone referencing him at all.
Hemmer plays a significant role in Uhura's story from season 2's Lost in Translation, even appearing in it in a log recording Uhura references:

And also as a specter representation of the aliens in the episode:

This has me the most interested I've been in SNW since before it aired. Will check them out, at some point.

To the masses, Star Trek is the Enterprise, Kirk, Spock and McCoy. The further you get away from that, the masses aren’t going to be interested. There has to be a balance between appeasing old fans and bringing in new fans.
That's the exact same argument I heard back in the 80s.

Then The Next Generation came along which paved the way for more series and new movies. Thank goodness the TNG creative team didn't have such a limited imagination or the franchise would have ended after TUC.

Limiting the entire Star Trek Universe to Kirk, Spock and McCoy would be like limiting the entire Marvel Universe to the Fantastic Four.

TNG was the exception not the rule. I cannot deny that TNG was extremely successful. It was the right show at the right time. Has any other Trek series met the level of critical and societal acclaim as TOS or TNG? The only extremely successful Star Trek projects that brought in a significant number of non fans were the 2009 Star Trek and Into Darkness. DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, all of the TNG films, Disco and on have all made strides to bring in new audience members but have largely fallen flat.

I’d love for them to come up with something new that is going to both energize the existing fanbase and bring in new fans. I hope that for every single series. And unfortunately, with those two exceptions, that has not happened from 1993 on.

DS9 and the rest never got an oppertunity on the big screen. Berman TV style got old and lost viewers because it didnt stay fresh. . The Kelvin films did fine, but if you reboot that cast again its only going to lead to diminishing returns. You cant keep recycling the same characters and concepts over and over and expect different results. All characters and stoylines have a shelf life and the Kirk crew passed its shelf life a very long time ago.

How many James Bond’s have there been?
How many Sherlock Holmes?
You mentioned Marvel above. How man times have both Marvel and DC comic series been rebooted?

So I respectfully disagree.

Frankenstein, Dracula. Sherlock Holmes.
