Everything we know about USS Discovery's interior

So it’s right behind one of the bridge turbo lifts?
Yeah the spacing seems to work so that the lift that functions as the door for the new attic ready room is literally directly above the lift that is the door to the bridge. The lift literally just goes straight up one deck without having to turn or anything. The rear doors would just open instead of the front ones. Not sure they intentionally made it work this well, but somehow it does XD

Right behind, and one level up, it still seems.

I wonder if we ever get to see the deck directly above the main bridge - the one they were supposed to build as part of the bridge set originally, except now the bridge supposedly has a ceiling there and the upper deck would be its own thing.

Was this the first time we actually had the camera follow people from the shuttlebay to the corridor beyond? Or did "Vulcan Hello" feature this, too? It's a rare event in any case.

Also, the shuttlebay seems to be in utter chaos now, with piles of junk accumulating in the corners, and the heroes erecting those blinking beacons to keep the shuttles from bumping onto the piles. It wasn't that bad under Lorca. He did keep the shuttles running on schedule...

We saw it once before a couple episodes ago, can't quite remember which one. Maybe when the Empress came aboard for the first time? Anyway yeah, this is the second time we've seen inside the shuttlebay corridor.

EDIT: In regards to the deck above the bridge. The season 2 Disco model has a few changes (additional windows, new aztecing, modified windows, etc.) but one of these is some internal details inside the blue dome room above the bridge. Last season, it was just glowing blue, but in some shots this season, you can see the blue sections are now translucent with some shadows of something inside. Almost looks like a table or something, but I suspect this area is purely sensor systems.

Originally, there was to be a deck above the bridge as seen in this concept art. They could always resurrect the idea.

Thread revival yayyyy.....

I'd say it's pretty much confirmed those windows behind the bridge are Pike's Ready Room. The season 2 ship model has been modified to have only 3 windows there, instead of the 5 seen in the opening titles.

@Noah_23 honestly, thank you for the picture. I see in another thread about et and story leaks the writer described the location of the ready room they way we have been discussing it here. Its really fun to see it on the show. Would love to see a shot zoom in or out of the windows at some point.

I also think there is enough depth to include maybe two additional rooms up there on either side of the turbo lift, between the new ready room and the top of the bridge. All of this in addition to some possible room above the bridge. What we really need is the CGI folks to create a 3D cutaway. That would be awesome!!

Awesome! totally agree. I honestly expect a cutaway to be released in the future. Probably in a similar style to the ST Beyond one. They clearly have a lot of the ship mapped out based on the deckplans we've seen on screens, and the slight attempt to match windows with the outside etc etc. They seem to actually be doing fewer window zoom-ins this season. I can't recall a single zoom in to the bridge, whereas last season practically every episode did one. I really hope they haven't moved away from that, cause that's a really cool use of modern VFX to show the scale of the ship and establish locations. Plus it just looks really cool. I also hope to see the ready room from the exterior, wether thats a zoom in or just an exterior shot looking into the windows.

So we got a pretty great shot of Discovery in the latest episode, tracking from the exterior into sickbay. Seems like there were a couple interesting glimpses of new rooms. What's that red hallway that the crew are running through? The one with some sort of recessed/dark space in the back wall?

Is that a half-dressed person climbing into a swimming pool? There's some kind of big, open blue/gold room that sort of looks like it could be a recreational space.

That's one of the four gangways connecting the outer and inner saucer rings of the ship. It's the one we saw Burnham and Tilly run through in season one. They have large windows on the ceiling and both sides. Must be pretty strong transparent aluminium.

And yeah, in the episode thread I wondered about the seemingly naked person as well.

It may be transparent, but why should it be merely aluminum?
Transparent aluminum is the new material Scotty gave to the scientist/manufacturer in The Voyage Home in order to build a tank for the two whales they took back to the 23rd century.

Might the red light be Night Time lighting?

And there are two people unclothed in that shot.
You can see what looks like the back of another person two windows to the left.
I'm guessing that it's just crew quarters we're seeing and folks changing clothes.

I'm curious as to what the very large room at the top with all the windows and yellows lines on the floor is.
Is that part of the Docking bay?

It sure what you’re talking about. But did you all see the person in the spacesuit outside the ship?? Almost like a Peeping Tom!!

Good call. That seems to be right!

Hm, to me the unclothed person is in the top room with the yellow lines. The people in the lower window appear clothed to me.

Never thought this would be something I'd be discussing analytically, I have to say!

See, this is why they need curtains. It's not cool that we're perving on Naked Discovery Guy, what he's doing is none of our buisness:p

Yeah, the top one appears to be completely naked, the bottom two only partially.
Maybe the top area is a pool?
And the bottom level are crew quarters?

Old Guinan had curtains in Generations. Remember?

I see at least three people on the first, lower deck. The one furthest to the left is shirtless, presumably a man. He seems to have a clothed roommate: no wall between them. Remember Tilly saying everyone had a roommate but her. I’d bet everyone of a certain lower rank does have roommate. Michael is the exception, after her reinstatement choosing to continue to room with Tilly.

Then we see at least one other clothed person to the right on that deck, but I’m betting there is a wall between them making it a different set of quarters.

I think the upper deck is just more quarters, not a pool. We see two different people and at least one them is naked. It seems like night on this shift as someone pointed out (darker colors in the tunnel, the feel and tone of the conversation the actors are having in sickbay). One of those folks is naked because some people like being naked, haha! And if you think about how people in high rises with little window cover are often found naked for others to see, it’s not so surprising.

I think the producers and CGI folks are having a ball reading forums like this, watching us look at every frame in such obsessive detail!!

Again, anyone see the person in a space suit looking in those windows like a Peeping Tom?!?! That’s us, haha! Nosey, nosey, nosey.

Anybody who's worked in the medical field or been in the military knows that a naked body is no big deal.
I rather doubt that folks in Star Fleet would be all that interested in donning up a spacesuit just to go window shopping outside the ship for a chance to see a naked fellow crewperson.
Especially a couple of century's from now.

It would be nice if that were the instance, were nudity was unremarkable. But, of course, that's just crazy talk...:sigh:

Yeah, titillation is still a thing in TV producers minds today.
It's times like that when I think They might be correct about the 12 year old mentality of the viewing audience.
(or maybe it's just that they are stuck in a 12 yo mentality)

More's the pity.

More's the pity.
Guys, I am not thinking so deeply about the sexual aspect. (That being said, naked bodies always have been and always will be interesting. And we will always have a tendency to look or even gawk.)

My last sentence was more about our obsessive interest in the minute details of the interior and exterior of the ship. I'm saying the space suit person is a stand-in for all of us. And happen to think it's pretty clever.

I'm not thinking of the sexual aspect but the sadness that I feel that it is even remarkable.
