Eurovision Song Contest 2012

I just read that Iran is so offended by the ESC in Azerbaidshan that it has withdrawn its ambassador from the country. Supposedly, it's an insult to Islam or something. Ah well, mission accomplished. Spending half a billion on this whole thing is worth it if you manage to piss Iran off, I guess. ;)

I cannot believe the audience did cheer so much when the grannies where on the stage ... I also cannot believe that there is indeed yet another cheesy Ralf Siegel song

If Euphoria doesn't win I will just stop watching these things. I mean, for one we have a GREAT song..

I would also like to raise a careful eyebrow,, the Netherlands,, Really? Many indians living there?

Austria mad me laugh though ... it reminds me of Die Atzen ... on second thought, if that song is successful Germany should consider sending Deichkind next year;

and I already forgot the country that came after ... however Ireland is nothing to forget with those twins ..

Ah, fuck, Israel and Latvia didn't even make it to the final, instead Ireland got the last ticket. Bah! Greece made it through, though.

I was devastated as well with Ireland getting the last ticket. The grannies were better live than I expected!

Poor Finland. :(

But amazing that Iceland, Greece, Cyprus, Moldova and Romania got through. :adore:

Moldova has a good song - something different from the all too common pop/ballad scheme.

And quite sensational live as well. Pasha really knows how to work a crowd, and with that catchy trumpet, it wouldn't surprise me if they snuck a top 10 on Saturday.

Israel should definitely be in there, and Austria will be missed, because now the number of votes to Germany from there will drop :(

unfortunately I already forgot which other songs deserve to be in the finals ... I'm so not prepared this year ...

Austria'll still vote in the finals, so don't worry, points will still be available from there.

(I'm not a fan of the German song but anyway)

Israel had a great performance, but I didn't think it'd get through anyway so I'm ok with it.

Yeah, I thought Israel's song was good fun. I also really enjoy the quirky music video they made for the song. Shame they're out. I was so rooting for Israel to get the last final spot over Ireland. :(
I thought Greece was surprisingly enjoyable... for Euro-Ethno-Dance-Pop. Guess the fact that the singer is really cute helped.
Hate Romania's entry, though.

And didn't they have the most hilarious choreography?! :D
How does Moldova manage to have the most absurd performances each year? Lovely!

And btw:

Austria...

...really?

The Moldovian singer is kind of hot, too.

Even if we had the best song ever I doubt we'd win, considering how unpopular we are right now in Europe. The ESC is only partially about the music as far as the voting is concerned.

And you only won 2 years ago! Things change so quickly.

But yeah, your song this year is really not up to standard compared to Lena, who I adore.

Juries do help alleviate a bit of the political voting, but it can't eliminate it completely unfortunately. I hate the contest becoming political when it should just be about the music.

I find all the big six's songs this year rather unimpressive and a bit boring. Actually, the German entry seemed to be the liveliest to me but I realise I've already heard it a couple of times without noting apparently (presumably on the radio even though I only listen to the most elitist station around - weird) so it might just be due to being accustomed to it. Then again, I didn't find any of the winning titles especially impressive, I'm the anti-standard for the ESC. ;)

That's surprising. I don't mind Roman Lob but the song is just so boring. It's not a bad song but it doesn't stand out at all in my opinion.
I prefer Italy's entry since it has some more edge to it (and a lot more swing, which makes it the "liveliest" for me). Can you really resist the rhythm?

Stylish video, too. :p

So a question for the Brits here: Do you expect to get any votes at all?

PS: I heard RobMax was rooting for Montenegro. Somebody had to.
