I'm hoping that the huge winning success of a song that sounds like a perfect hit in the charts right now will carry over to next year, the UK will copy it to an extent and artists doing well enough over here in our excellent music scene will look at it as an opportunity to promote a song to the whole of Europe rather than as a dead-end way to end your music career.
But like that'll ever happen with the poisonous joke attitude we have to Eurovision. It's only deserved when we send bloody Scooch to the contest!
Looking at the songs I really liked this year and will continue to listen to, my absolute favourites are among the Nordic countries, my whole top 3 being from there, but beyond that it gets really spread out. So I'm secretly a Scandinavian.
I do have a favourite Eurovision country, that is, Finland (solid gold tracks ever since they won with the exception of 2008/11), and a country I just do not get most of the time, that being Bosnia-Herzegovina, but otherwise my love for countries waxes and wanes. Latvia and Macedonia have sent awful entries the past few years for example but I really liked them both this time around and while I've liked and loved all the previous Georgian entries I thought they were horrific this year, by far my least favourite of the competition.
The Caucasus 3 got it all so right in 2010, how did it go to this so quickly?
Even Azerbaijan, who normally deserve a lot of their success, had a plain performance and song compared to Drip Drop (and Running Scared, but that's more guilty than absolute love).
