Episodes you'll never watch again?

Are there any episodes of Star Trek that you'll never watch again?

I ask because I'm finishing up a long term viewing of the first four series and I've realized this is probably the last time I'll ever watch a lot of episodes of Voyager. The show just never did it for me so I don't see myself having a comprehensive viewing ever again. Same goes for TNG - I'll likely skip the duds next time through. Even my personal favorite TOS...I doubt I'll ever watch The Alternative Factor again.

For some reason this concept of never seeing certain episodes again, yet definitely planning to watch others 10+ more times is really weird to me. Maybe because I've been watching them regardless of quality since childhood?

I wouldn't say never, eventually I'll come across one I didn't particularly like and find myself watching. But I have changed in the last decade or so. I used to go through them in order, back in the days of regular weekly broadcasts and VHS, rather than stopping the tape. Stick with it, even when there's nothing particularly memorable or outstanding happening. Choice these days and a huge number of episodes has meant I do skip the ones I remember for all the wrong reasons. Just last night I went from "Sarek" to "Transfigurations", skipping "Menáge a Troi". A flashback of Ferengis, Lwaxana Troi and oomoks was enough of a reason for me. Wesley Crusher got promoted at the end didn't he? After seen it before, that's all I need to remember quite frankly.

I imagine in the case of Enterprise, that's more like a whole series some will never watch once. Let along again. Which is sad but their choice to make. There are probably a handful that disappointed me but unfortunately any promise I make to myself not to watch tends to get broken. Even "These are the Voyages..." which I held out for several years, until I absolutely had to watch it, in order to pull out some clips for research.

What it must be like to have been a fan during the first couple of decades. Only 79 episodes to choose from, having not much to compare them with, finding value in each and living in denial that every single one was some how classic.

The only one I can think of that I would even consider not watching again is TATV.

I won't say I'll never, ever watch it again, but it's certainly going to be a while, and then I'll need a very good excuse.

Yeah. I'm planning a run through of all my Trek and gap-filling series like Voyager and Enterprise on the way. I've never seen Star Trek Remastered, so I'll watch all of those, but first series TNG is pretty near unwatchable for me outside of a couple of episodes. The only reason I'm going to rip the rest is for historic reasons and so I can watch them with my daughter who at 8 is likely to have a less-critical eye. Parts of series 2 are also rubbish; especially the clip-show. I'm sure there's ones in the first couple of series of DS9 as well and the "Brigadoon" episode is a definite must-miss.

Since I've not seen most of Voyager and almost none of Enterprise I'll give those a full viewing before determining what can get the chop.

Voyager - False Profits

Heck, there's quite a few Voyager eps I watched and thought "Glad that's over."

These Are The Voyages. Enterprise finished after the Terra Prime incident. Also there are a lot of early Enterprise and later Voyager I wouldn't go near again.

A few early DS9 and TNG, but that's really because they were still trying to find their feet with each series.

There are probably several that I'll never watch again, but I'll never be able to come up with the names of them. I think that some of the ideas that went into these so-called "dud" episodes were good, but they weren't well executed. A few tweaks, and perhaps they could have been exceptional.

I never liked the first and second part of "Gambit" or "Aquiel" in TNG's season 6.

And the Children Shall Lead
The Way to Eden
("And the children shall lead the way to Eden?" Hey, I like that!)
The Alternative Factor.

Otherwise I'm good with the rest of TOS.

There are too many TNG eps to even remember. I hated Masks, Invisible Friend, Emergence...

A smattering of DS9 eps, mainly the Ferengi ones. I recently rewatched the one where we meet Quark's mother and deeply regretted it.

I have no desire to watch any of Voyager or the first 3 seasons of Enterprise ever again.

What was the name of that season one DS9 episode where they find an expanding "micro universe" and then solve the problem by throwing it into the Gamma Quadrant? I think it was Microcosm? That episode bothers me like few others, and was the "Threshold" of DS9 in my opinion.

Oh yeah - I thought that even for pseudo-scientific technobabble, that was a ridiculous story!

There are none. I've seen them all a thousand tines each and will most likely see them all again a thousand times each. Even Star Trek of lesser quality (All of VOYAGER and ENTERPRISE, also, City on the Edge of Forever and The Inner Light) is better than any other show.

"Playing God," from season 2. There was a Voyager episode called "Macrocosm" about viruses that grew into huge monsters and hovered about the ship, though.

There are some from each series that I don't watch often, but I won't say I wouldn't ever watch them again....

Just about anything from the first season
Who Watches the Watchers

DS9:

Assuming you're not being facetious, yeah, I used to think the same way but I see my tastes changing after some repeated viewings. I don't even know if it's the quality (I've always known certain episodes are BAD), so much as seeing the same theme/message/tropes over and over has worn me out on some episodes.

I do find that I'm more forgiving of TOS being predictable and cliched than Voyager. Not sure if that's b/c TOS was first and therefore revolutionary in my mind, or if I'm just biased b/c TOS was what got me hooked.

There are none that I won't watch again because by doing that you rule out the possibility of doing Star Trek marathons!

If there was an episode though, that I could choose to remove from existence it would be "Shades of Gray". Why? Because it's an insult to Star Trek and especially to those who watched TNG season two during it's first run and was looking forward to a decent finale.

There probably isn't an episode of any Trek series that I wouldn't watch again. The quality definately goes up and down throughout each series but I still firmly believe that even the worst episode of Trek is still better than anything else that's on television today.
