Episodes you refuse to watch...

Angel One
Code of Honor
Sub Rosa
Homeward

There's a fair chunk of episodes from Season 1 and Season 7 that are not very good. The first season they were finding their way, but it seems like for the last season they had kind of given up or run out of ideas or something.

A number of people have listed "Devil's Due." For the record I really liked that episode, it contained shades of TOS. I thought it fun and well acted by whoever that woman was who played Ardra.

As for stinkers "Code of Honor," "Perfect Mate," and whatever the name of the episode was in which Troi kept wailing "One moon circles!" Geez...

Devils Due is a fun ep to watch, sometimes ones that aren't considered good still aren't bad...

I'm doing a full TNG-rewatch right now and so far I haven't skipped an episode. I even watched Code of Honor so I suppose it can't get worse.

Kudos to you on that! I'm a die-hard TNG fan, but that's probably one episode I just never feel like revisiting. Along with that, I'd add "Angel One", "Dark Page" and "Eye of the Beholder".

Now I almost WANT to watch 'Code Of Honor' and all the the ones that get a lot of hate here. :)

Partially because I haven't seen them in years... But... even so, maybe not.

Code of Honor does have one good (only one) thing going for it - a very retro score by Fred Steiner that sounds like it belongs on TOS.

I dislike that episode only for Picards moronic application of the prime directive.

You mean night terrors? I agree that the Troi part isn't good, but I think it's a fine ep otherwise. Watching the entire crew (except for Data of course) slowly going crazy because of a lack of REM sleep ... including that Beverly scene in the morgue that I still think is one of the creepiest scenes in all of trek, precisely because it doesn't pull all the stops out.

About 'Night Terrors'...

As far as i know, the crew didn't like the end result of Troi gliding in the air in her dream and I agree, it's weird... other than that I like that episode!

Which makes sense, considering the episode was originally written for the aborted late-70's TV revival of TOS. :techman:

Star Trek II

Any episode where Geordi has to act outside of his engineering character. He's just not a good actor. The worst is when he tries to do a British accent on the holodeck.

Two that I haven't seen mentioned, but I've been skipping are:

Times Arrow Parts 1 & 2 - BORING
Gambit Parts 1&2 - BORING

Only read the first page so far. Many of the ones already mentioned hold true for me. I'm surprised nobody's mentioned The Masterpiece Society, A Matter of Perspective or Homeward.

EDIT: And now I see that two other people have mentioned Homeward.

Sub Rosa.

An episode written for the women? As a longtime Trek watcher who happens to be a woman I don't know whether to feel insulted by this or saddened. Where did they get the idea that we would want to watch such drek? News flash. Trek fans who happen to be female don't NEED romance in our stories to like them. (Most of who are into Tolkien didn't 'need' that silly dwarf/elf 'romance' in The Hobbit movies either. Gah.) A well written well paced romantic story line is fine but this wasn't one of them.

What makes me sad is the idea that they believe this is the sort of thing we would want. Dress it up like pretty smoke if you want in an attempt to hide it but its about assault.

Do us a favor future Trek writers. If you think you it might be a good idea to write something 'for the girls'....don't.
I guess this was our version of "Twilight." But without the vampires and werewolves...:ouch:
Oh yes... and the paranormal creature did burn up and effing die. :D

The only redeeming part of the episode.

I mean really..the smoke worked its way through the women in that family. EWWWW. I know my grandmother was an attractive woman in her day but still...:ack:

They could have fixed this. Beverly could have discovered the entity, learned to communicate with it and it could have found a way to personify himself in a form that she found attractive and there could have been a romance but in the end he couldn't leave the planet or whatever and it had to end. Make it more consensual instead of this whole "IT IS YOUR DESTINY TO LOVE ME BECAUSE EVERYONE IN YOUR FAMILY ELSE HAS!"

That and the fact that 24th century Starfleet officer Troi has less understanding of basic science than your average 20th century 10th grader.

But that said, it was one of the better episodes.

And I love The Royale.

Episodes I refuse to watch.... I think I, Borg is one. I can't stand that one.

I really dislike many others, but I can't think of any more I'd refuse to watch. There's a lot I don't watch just because my TV has more than one station. If agents from BBC America invaded my house and Clockwork Oranged me to make me watch TNG, I think I'd make it, but not if they showed I, Borg over and over. Besides being imbecilic, it's boring as hell.

The only time I watch old episodes now is whenever I decide to start with Enterprise and go straight though the lot, including movies, chronologically until the end with Nemesis. The last time I did that was about a year ago, and I didn't skip any.

Refusing to watch bad episodes is like having the power to pick and choose qualities of my wife I'd like to keep or get rid of: in the end, I wouldn't have the same woman I fell in love with.

Granted, like my wife I can easily tune Trek out and do something else while it's jabbering annoying nonsense in the background, but even those moments are precious. :scream:

Oh yes it does, or maybe you've forgotten "The Inner Light".

Seriously, I'm still waiting on somebody to tell me what's so bad about "Code of Honor". It never bothered me. Of course, I hate "The Inner Light", which seems to be a fan favorite, so what do I know?

As for skipping episodes, I never do. Not even my last favorite "Inner Light".

I was always surprised at the love "The Inner Light' received. I didn't hate it. I thought it was ok but didn't see anything about it that made it special.
