Episodes you refuse to watch...

For some reason 'Hollow Pursuits' wasn't on my original list... Well, from now on, it will be, I watched it recently and it...was...so... not good! No one just can't be so awkward around other people as Barclay was in that episode, it's hard to watch that... fortunately on 'The Nth Degree' and 'Ship in a Bottle' he was more tolerable, since I think those are good episodes.

Gambit Parts 1&2 - BORING

Agreed

I always thought I was alone in my dislike for "The Inner Light"

It isn't very TNGish episode... not a fan.

The only good thing I can say about Inner Light is it's Patrick Stewart's show and he's an excellent actor.

Everything else.... meh

I'm doing a full TNG-rewatch right now and so far I haven't skipped an episode. I even watched Code of Honor so I suppose it can't get worse.

Oh yes it does, or maybe you've forgotten "The Inner Light".

Seriously, I'm still waiting on somebody to tell me what's so bad about "Code of Honor". It never bothered me. Of course, I hate "The Inner Light", which seems to be a fan favorite, so what do I know?

As for skipping episodes, I never do. Not even my last favorite "Inner Light".

Both are pretty poor episodes. But I'd rather watch "Code of Honor". "The Inner Light" is just plain dull.

The list of TNG episodes I do watch regularly, is a lot shorter than the one with the episodes I don't watch...

Still, those I do watch are so good, they make TNG my favorite TV show.

So many of the episodes listed suck, but I find I watch some for reasons other than story/performance. Some of the worst have interesting re-uses of props or set pieces that I enjoy seeing. The weapons on the wall in Too Short a Season is a good example of this.

- Most of the ones from the first season except for Symbiosis (which I kind of like, apart from Tasha's speech :barf: ) and Conspiracy, which I *really* like

- The High Ground

I gave them all a chance for the Bluray. Some I didnt watch in order though. Man of the People is one. The Loss is a nadir for the series which is way worse than any episode I've seen anyone list yet, except maybe Shades of Gray.

I totally forgot to mention the obvious choice. Shades of Gray. What a terrible episode. I guess I just don't count it as a "real" TNG episode.

Having said that: We still watched it last night as part of our TNG re-watch but uh... let's just say we were focused on other things...

Well played, well played.

It's not terrible or one of the worst (the main cast was done pretty well) but it was a big miss. I usually enjoy rather than dislike non-subtlety but it's so over-the-top blatant, especially Lutan's evil (somewhat enjoyably OTT in the middle but just too much in the beginning and ending), it feels like trying to be offensive or self-mocking.

At least Sub Rosa is so ridiculous, that I can hate-watch it. Imaginary Friend is too drab for me to enjoy.

Shades of Gray is the popular answer for worst episode just like Spock's Brain is, but both shows have episodes that are far far worse.

Really? Well, wait no more!

We see these cries of racism and so forth but to me that's the least of the epsiode's problems. Here's something I wrote at TrekBBS in 2014:

  • Poorly written. Just terrible. Imagine that one line from "Datalore" about beaming out a tree, stretched to an entire episode.
  • Awful direction.
  • Poorly plotted.
  • Poorly concieved.
  • Horrible acting. Not Godawful, but at a certain point it doesn't really matter -- you're only delineating between different steaming piles of monkey crap.
  • And a weak and forgettable score by one time TNG composer, and famous TOS composer, the late Fred Steiner. What a fucking waste of a talented composer.
